Based on an ecological model of teacher agency, the purpose of this study was to examine the relevance of HE (home economics) subjects and CSE (comprehensive sexuality education) for HE teachers, and their implementation in HE classes. To achieve this, a survey was conducted with HE teachers nationwide for which 243 responses were collected, and interviews were conducted with five HE teachers who were actively practicing CSE. The results of the survey and interview were as follows. First, HE teachers strongly recognized the relevance of HE subjects and the topic of CSE with an average score of 4.63 (out of 5 points), and practiced CSE at an average of 72.23% (97.12%~43.21%) in their class. Second, based on the ecological approach model of teacher agency, the factors facilitating the CSE practice of HE teachers included: childbirth and parenting experienced as parents, experiences of students encountering sexual problems in school, the philosophy and content of HE subjects, positive feedback from students and support from fellow teachers, and intention to help students in their lives. Conversely, HE teachers cited a lack of sexual education experience as learners, complaints from parents, weakness of HE teacher networks, lack of specific statements in curriculum and textbooks, insufficient class content and teacher training, and lack of absolute class time. This study is significant in revealing that CSE is highly relevant to the contents of HE subjects and is already being practiced in HE classes.

The purpose of this study was implementing the high-school 'Food Safety and Health' curriculum using the workbook, and to evaluate the educational impact on, and satisfaction of student who participated in class. A total of 109 lessons were undertaken in home economics classes by referring to the 'Food Safety and Health' workbook for 1,154 students attending seven high schools located in seven cities and provinces across the Korea. In order to examine the effects of classes by referring to workbooks, pre- and post-evaluations were conducted by devising a questionnaire about dietary behavior associated with food safety, creative problem-solving abilities, community capacities, and social cooperation capacities. The results of the analysis of the collected data from 674 students who participated in the pre- and post-evaluations are as follows. First, according to the results of the paired t-test conducted to examine the effects of using the workbook in classes on dietary behavior, significant positive changes were observed in the dietary behavior related to food safety, creative problem-solving skills, community consciousness, and social cooperation capabilities. Second, as a result of the students' evaluation of classes by referring to the 'Food Safety and Health' workbook, both satisfaction and interest in the class using the workbook were high, and the difficulty level was deemed to be appropriate. Additionally, it was found that the students actively participated in learning activities. The reason for this appears to be that the aforementioned workbook consisted of various student activities such as experiments, practical exercises, and group activities aimed at strengthening the link between life and education, thus enabling increased student participation.

This study aims to examine the mediating role of peer attachment between affective school environments and the problematic behaviors of children using data from the Panel Study on Korean Children 10th wave (2017). Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, Sobel test, and bootstrapping versification were performed using SPSS 28.0 and Process Macro 28.0. The results indicate that controlled and rigid school environments were negatively associated with peer attachment and positively associated with both internal and external behavior problems. Furthermore, peer attachment was negatively associated with both internal and external behavioral problems. Peer attachment completely mediated the link between affective school environments and internal behavioral problems, and partially mediated the link between affective school environments and external behavioral problems. These results show the important role of supportive and democratic school environments regarding peer attachment.

The present study identified the effects of parents' work-family conflict on their and partners' co-parenting quality, as well as the mediating roles of co-parenting quality and children's executive function difficulties in linking parents' work-family conflict to their children's school adjustment. This study used data from 387 dual-earner parents and their first-grade elementary school children, who participated in the Panel Study on Korean Children. An actor-partner interdependence and mediation model analysis using structural equation modeling revealed the following findings: first, the actor and partner effects of parents' work-family conflict on co-parenting quality were significant for both fathers and mothers. Second, the effect of the fathers' work-family conflict on their co-parenting quality was found to be greater than that of the mothers' work-family conflict on the fathers' co-parenting quality. Third, fathers' and mothers' work-family conflict, respectively, exerted an indirect effect on their children's school adjustment through the serial mediation by the mothers' co-parenting quality and children's executive function difficulties, whereas the direct effects of fathers' and mothers' work-family conflict on children's school adjustment were not supported. Finally, this study suggests that co-parenting quality and children's executive function should be considered to facilitate children's school adjustment in the parent education of dual-earner families with first-grade elementary school children, and that continuous policy efforts for dual-earner parents' work-family balance are needed.

Using Bernd H. Schmitt's experiential modules, this study investigated the effect of shopping value on recognizing the importance of customer experience. A survey was conducted with 400 adults aged in their 20s to 50s. To analyze the data, factor analysis, a reliability test, cluster analysis, and ANOVA were conducted. The results were as follows. First, the shopping values exhibited by sportswear consumers were a utilitarian shopping value and a hedonic shopping value. Through these, consumers were classified into four groups: a shopping value-oriented group, a utilitarian shopping value group, a shopping value-unconcern group, and a hedonic shopping value group. Second, the customer experience consisted of five factors: sensory experience, emotional experience, cognitive experience, behavioral experience, and relational experience. Third, a significant difference was observed in customers' perceived experiences according to shopping value type. In the shopping value-oriented group, all customer experiences were generally considered important, followed by the hedonic shopping value group and the shopping value-unconcern group, with the utilitarian shopping value group least likely to perceive customer experiences as important. In addition, cognitive and emotional experiences were rated highest among the five experiences, indicating that these were the most important store experiences among the various customer experience components.

This study aimed to examine the effect of parental psychological control on adolescents' non-suicidal self-injury and verify whether this effect is mediated by depression. In the first survey of 647 middle and high school students, only those who had experiences of non-suicidal self-injury were selected (136 adolescents). For data analysis purposes, descriptive statistics for each measured variable and Pearson's correlation coefficients among research variables were calculated. In addition, Process Macro - Model 4 by Hayes (2013) was used to investigate the mediating model. Finally, the bootstrapping method was applied to confirm the significance of the mediating effect. The results of this study were as follows. First, parental psychological control and depression directly affected the frequency of non-suicidal self-injury among adolescents. Second, depression mediated the relationship between parental psychological control and non-suicidal self-injury. In conclusion, the more parents controlled their children's psychological factors, the higher the level of depression among adolescents, and as a result, the higher the frequency of non-suicidal self-injury. These findings suggest that educational intervention on parental psychological control is important to prevent and reduce non-suicidal self-injury; however, psychotherapy intervention that reduces the levels of depression should also be required.

This study aimed to develop an e-mentoring youth financial education program and verify its effectiveness for promoting financial empowerment and establishing financial capabilities among independent consumers. A four-session, eight-hour “Youth Financial Empowerment Mentoring Program” was developed. This program dealt with financial literacy and financial psychology factors in an integrated fashion. We used the nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design to evaluate the program's effectiveness. Specifically, by using Zoom, a virtual conference platform, four mentors of college students were trained for four sessions over two weeks. Meanwhile, four groups were formed with four mentors and 18 high school mentees to implement a four-week e-mentoring program. As a result of the analysis of covariance, significant differences were found between the two groups in all financial psychology factors and financial literacy variables. In addition, the score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. As a result of qualitative evaluation through FGI for mentees and mentors, mentees experienced positive changes in financial behavior, beliefs, attitudes, and personal relationships, as well as increased financial knowledge. Meanwhile, mentors experienced positive changes in their introspection into financial behavior and consumption. Considering these results, we can conclude that this program effectively induces participants to learn and reflect on their initiative, which is in line with the original goal of “improving financial empowerment”.

The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of Home Economics Instruction applying Flipped and Problem-Based Learning (FPBL) on Korean middle-school students' metacognition skill. The study uses a pre-post design test of the same group. There were 151 participants (77 male and 74 female) who were middle-school students in the third grade. Two hours of classes on 'Food Selection and Storage' were given per week for three weeks - a total of six hours. Analysis using the t -test revealed a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test, supporting the conclusion that participating in the class improved the metacognition, food selection, and storage behavior scores of the middle-school students. All area scores and overall averages of metacognitive sub-elements such as planning, monitoring, regulation, and evaluation also improved after taking FPBL classes. From the results of this study, Home Economics Instruction applying FPBL is an effective teaching method for improving middle-school students' metacognition.

The purpose of this study is to investigate a student's career maturity during a career exploration program based on the ecological system perspective and to propose directions for the career maturation process to help H. Meister High School students to get jobs. A single-case 12-session career exploration program was applied to a first-year student at H. Meister High School in U. City for 90 minutes per session twice a week. To verify the effects of the program, this study conducted a pre-test and post-test of career maturity to analyze changes. In addition, the study qualitatively analyzed changes in the program activity sheets and process evaluation sheets per session. The results of the study are as follows: Firstly, the career exploration program based on the ecological system perspective conducted with the student at H. Meister High School improved the student's career maturity. Secondly, changes were observed in the scores in the sub-factors of career maturity between the pre-test and the post-test. Significant differences in the results of the analysis of the sub-factors of career maturity indicate that the program had a statistically positive impact on the career maturation process of the participant. In conclusion, as a result of the in-depth implementation of the program for 12 sessions, the participant expressed his desires which were clarified. In addition, a positive career maturation process appears to have taken place, owing to the self-directed program that led the participant to initiate plans and explore his career by himself. This study was conducted as a single case based on the ecological system perspective concerning career exploration and the career maturation process, but it will be necessary to expand the study to investigate the effects of group counseling, information exchange considering peer influences, common discussions on goal-setting, and other methods on the career maturation process.

This study aims to clarify the relationship between family policy and children's quality of life through an international comparison and to determine which family policy factors contribute to children's quality of life. The research question is “How can family policies be combined to improve children's quality of life in terms of health and economy?” It includes nine categories of family policies related to money, service, and leave. Measures of children's quality of life include low birth weight, infant mortality, and child poverty. Using the OECD Family Database, and the OECD Child Well-being Data, fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparison Analysis (fsQCA) was used among 20 OECD countries. Combinations of family policies significant to the children's quality of life were derived from the results. This study contributes to the literature by revealing the effectiveness of states' investment in family policy. In addition, the study indicates that since family policies interact with each other, those policies combine to improve children's quality of life.

As human life and welfare become more valued in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, the role and mission of human ecology are expanding. Therefore, a career exploration and education program for high school students covering all the academic fields of human ecology may be necessary. To investigate what would be needed to develop such a program, a focus group interview (FGI) targeting experts within the same field and a survey targeting high school students were conducted. As a result of the FGI, a total of 3 categories and 7 subcategories were identified. The three categories included “human ecology and high school education,” “human ecology and career choices,” and “education program development and management in human ecology.” The results of the high schoolers' survey showed that they had a moderate level of awareness about careers related to human ecology majors, but their interests and known information about human ecology programs in universities were low. Within the sub-content of each major, the contents with the highest educational needs were fashion product management, nutrition by disease, housing market analysis, personal financial management, and children's rights and welfare. If a career exploration and education program is implemented in the future, the most preferred type is a mentoring program by professors, students, and graduates in the field of human ecology. In conclusion, it is necessary to develop and implement an integrative education program about human ecology majors based on the educational needs of high school students.

This study examined the factors influencing the psychosocial well-being of working mothers of preschool children. It investigated the mediation effects of sociological ambivalence in the relations of psychosocial well-being with a family-supportive work environment and with the gender-role stereotype of family members. In addition, it tested the moderated mediation effects of the traditional gender-role attitudes in workplace and meta-mood. Data were obtained from 476 working mothers of preschool children. Using SPSS 25.0, Cronbach's alpha reliability was calculated, descriptive statistics were generated, and Pearson's correlation analysis performed. Mediation and moderated mediation analyses were carried out using the SPSS process macro 3.5 program. The main results were as follows: first, sociological ambivalence mediated the relationship between psychosocial well-being and a family-supportive work environment. The mediating effect of sociological ambivalence was moderated by emotional attention, a sub-factor of meta-mood. Second, sociological ambivalence mediated the relationship between psychosocial well-being and the gender-role stereotype of family members. In addition, the traditional gender-role attitudes in workplace moderated the mediating effect of sociological ambivalence on the relationship between the gender-role stereotype of family members and psychosocial well-being. These results can be used to inform discussion on changing policy and education to improve the psychosocial well-being of working mothers with preschool children.

The purpose of this study was to identify a support method for the introduction of metaverse-based classes (MBC) in home economics (HE) education. This was achieved by diagnosing the stages of concern and levels of use exhibited by HE teachers applying the concerns-based adoption model (CBAM). Questionnaires were sent to a convenience sample of middle- and high-school HE teachers using the KSDC (Korea Social Science Data Center). Overall, 271 responses were received, and the data were analyzed using KSDC E-STAT 3.0 and SPSS 28.0.1.1. The results were as follows: First, regarding the level of knowledge of MBC, the introductory level was the most common (139 respondents, 51.3%,), followed by the beginner level (81, 29.9%), the intermediate level (28, 10.3%,), the advanced level (12, 4.4%), and the master level (11, 4.1%). Average responses on a 5-point Likert scale to questions about the use of metaverse in HE classes were as follows: possibility (4.02), necessity (3.82), and usefulness (3.90). Second, HE teachers' stages of concern in MBC were as follows (in descending order): unconcerned - stage 0, and information - stage 1 (86.9), personal - stage 2 (85.6), management - stage 3 (80.9), collaboration - stage 5 (57.5), consequence - stage 4 (57.4), and refocusing - stage 6 (55.2). Third, the use of MBC was highest for orientation - level 1 (173 respondents, 63.8%), followed by non-use - level 0 (34, 12.5%), preparation - level 2 (29, 10.7%), mechanical - level 3 (15, 5.5%), refinement - level 5 (8, 3.0%), renewal - level 7 (8, 3.0%), routine - level 4 (3, 1.1%), and integration - level 6 (1, 0.4%). Many HE teachers had heard about MBC but were in the introductory level of not knowing what it is, and at the stage of being unconcerned or wanting to know about MBC. Of the 271 respondents, only 35 used metaverse in classes. Therefore, it is necessary to provide teacher training opportunities that provide basic information on the significance and implementation of MBC for HE teachers. Also, an MBC guideline book should be developed and distributed to HE teachers. Finally, a teacher community meeting is needed to share the expertise of teachers with substantial experience in using MBC.

This study examined the moderated mediating impact of entrapment and emotional support from peers in the relationship between academic stress and suicidal ideation among middle-school students. The participants consisted of 214 middle-school students in the first to third grades from four middle schools located in Seoul, Gyeong-gi, Chun-cheon, and Jeonnam. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and the Process Macro Model versions 4, 1, and 14. The results of this study were as follows. First, academic stress did not directly influence suicidal ideation; however, entrapment mediated the relationship between academic stress and suicidal ideation. Second, emotional support from peers moderated the mediating effect of entrapment in the aforementioned relationship. This means that if students perceived emotional support from peers, then academic stress had a smaller impact on suicidal ideation through entrapment. These findings highlight the importance of decreasing levels of academic stress and entrapment to prevent suicidal ideation among middle-school students. They also suggest that enhancing students' emotional support networks with their peers could be an effective way of reducing suicidal ideation when students feel high levels of entrapment and academic stress.

Data were obtained from the 2020 Seoul Family Report Survey. There were 1,949 study subjects, including first- and second-generation baby boomers and individuals in generations X, Y, and Z in Korea. Latent profile analyses were conducted using M-plus. Perceptions and views concerning family values were classified into different types. The main findings were as follows. Two types were identified among first baby boomers, and three were identified among second baby boomers. Most of the first and second baby boomers belonged to the “moderate” type. Two types were detected among those in Generation X. Regarding gender roles, most views of Generation X were slightly progressive, while their other family values were more moderate. Three types were identified among those in Generation Y: “progressive,” “moderate,” and “very liberal.” Generation Z was identified as a “progressive” group. This study provides basic data to explore the direction of the coexistence of generations by identifying and comparing diverse family values within and across generations.

This study examined the experience of middle-aged women, centering on the home as the residence of never-married children. I conducted interviews with four such women in their 50s and 60s who had experienced the residential independence of never-married children within the past five years, and a variety of field texts were used as research texts. Through reconstructing the participants' experiences, two main themes emerged: experiencing anxiety regarding alienation from their child and expecting to resolve this anxiety through the marriage of their child. The participants were anxious about their never-married children, and this study found that at the root of this was anxiety regarding being alienated from their children. The participants often attempted to visit their children's homes to relieve such anxiety but, as their children often discouraged this, the situation was aggravated. Thus, the participants wished for their children to marry, as they aspired to restore an intimate relationship with them through such an event. These results imply that tensions and conflicts between parents and children may arise due to the independence of never-married children.

The purpose of this study was to explore the implications of Freire's education theory for secondary school Home Economics Education (HEedu). We conducted a review of books written by Freire and classified the characteristics of his education theory into 9 categories. Based on these categories, we concretely explored the forms in which Freire's education theory could be applied in this area of education through interviews with Home Economics (HE) teachers. We also searched for activities that can be carried out by HEedu agents and the support that can be given by social institutions. The implications of Freire's education theory for HEedu are that education should exhibit love and respect for human beings, be ethically and democratically responsible, enable people to dream as well as hope, support consciousness and praxis by reflection, stimulate epistemological curiosity in learners' lives and experiences, promote subjectivity, autonomy and self-reliance, engage in dialogue to bring about a change in relationships rather than viewing dialogue as a skill, and stimulate political engagement. Freire's education theory therefore has multiple implications for the purpose, mission, and content of education, teaching methods and perspectives, and directions regarding the role of HE teachers. The results are expected to provide practical assistance in developing a persuasive curriculum for HEedu that can help learners restore subjectivity and love for human beings and their society by expanding the horizons of HEedu philosophy from the critical science of Habermas to Freire's education theory.

This study examined the influence of bullying victimization on reactive aggression among upper elementary school students, and the mediating effect of victim justice sensitivity on the relationship between such victimization and aggression. It also investigated whether negative urgency moderates the influence of bullying victimization on reactive aggression. The participants were a group of 262 children (114 boys and 148 girls) who were fourth to sixth-grade students from 10 elementary schools located in Seoul, Gyeong-gi, and Daegu. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and SPSS Process Macro Model 5. The results were as follows: First, victim justice sensitivity mediated the influence of bullying victimization on reactive aggression among upper elementary school students. Second, negative urgency moderated the effect of bullying victimization on reactive aggression, whereas the impact of this was greater when the level of negative urgency was high. The results suggest that reactive aggression among upper elementary school students could be effectively decreased by preventing bullying victimization, and reducing the level of victim justice sensitivity and negative urgency.

Generation MZ, a generic term for millennials and members of Generation Z, is an innovation-leading consumer group in the current market. This study aimed to examine the impact of the ethical consumption tendencies of millennials and Generation Z on the purchase intention of social enterprise fashion products. Data were collected from Generation MZ (15-40 years old) by quota sampling based on the demographic variables of gender, age, and region, respectively. Eight hundred responses were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t -test, and regressions using SPSS software. Three value factors (egoistic, altruistic, and biospheric) and three ethical consumption tendency factors (resource saving tendency, eco-friendly tendency, and consciousness of corporate responsibility) were determined by factor analyses. The results confirmed that women, who showed a higher ethical consumption tendency in all three factors, were more altruistic and biospheric than men. Furthermore, women portrayed a more favorable attitude and purchase intention towards fashion products of social enterprises. The results demonstrated that members of Generation Z were more altruistic and biospheric than millennials. Additionally, the attitude, purchase intention, and willingness to pay premium prices were higher in Generation Z members. It was confirmed that higher biospheric values correlated with greater values for the three ethical consumption tendency factors. The altruistic value affected both the resource saving tendency and eco-friendly trend, while the egoistic value had an effect on the resource saving tendency. Both attitude and purchase intention were positively influenced by all three of the ethical consumption tendency factors, and affected the willingness to pay premium prices. This was subsequently influenced by the resource saving tendency and consciousness of corporate responsibility. The results of this study contribute to understanding Generation MZ as a consumer group, and the establishment of marketing strategies for fashion companies.

This study analyzed the relationship between adult attachment, self-differentiation, and self-esteem in solving the fear of intimacy in interpersonal relationships experienced by adults. This study targeted people in the 20s to 50s age group, and data from 1,263 participants were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. The results are as follows. First, it was found that secure attachment had a negative relationship with the fear of intimacy, while the relationship between self-differentiation and self-esteem was positive. On the other hand, anxiety attachment and avoidance attachment were shown to have a positive relationship with the fear of intimacy, but a negative relationship was identified with self-differentiation and self-esteem. Second, it became evident that self-differentiation and self-esteem mediated the relationship between adult attachment and the fear of intimacy. Additionally, the findings indicated that self-differentiation and self-esteem had a dual mediating effect. The results of this study can be used as basic data for counseling and educational programs to solve the fear of intimacy in interpersonal relationships experienced by adults.
