본 연구는 초기 청소년의 다문화인식이 다문화에 대한 사회적 거리감에 미치는 영향에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 초기 청소년의 다문화인식과 다문화에 대한 사회적 거리감과의 관계에서 이들이 지각하는 부모 및 교사의 다문화적 태도의 조절효과를 검증하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 서울시 G구에 소재한 5개 초등학교 4~6학년 학생을 대상으로 2017년 4월부터 11월까지 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문지는 총 400부 배부되었으며, 본 연구의 최종 분석에 총 362개의 설문지가 사용되었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다: 첫째, 초기 청소년의 성별과 성적에 따른 사회적 거리감의 차이가 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 둘째, 다문화인식의 하위요인인 존중성과 사회적 거리감 간의 관계에 있어 부의 다문화적 태도가 조절효과를 나타냈다. 셋째, 다문화인식의 하위요인인 존중성과 신체적 거리감 간의 관계에 있어 부·모의 다문화적 태도가 조절효과를 나타냈다. 넷째, 다문화인식의 하위요인인 개방성과 대인적 거리감 간의 관계에 있어 교사의 다문화적 태도가 조절효과를 나타냈다. 마지막으로 이상의 연구결과를 바탕으로 보다 효율적인 사회통합을 위한 방안모색에 대해 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of multucultural awareness among early adolescences on social distance toward different ethnics and culture. This study, moreover, was to determine whether or not parents’and teachers’ multicultural attitudes influencing the degree of social distance toward different ethnics among early adolescences. Subjects were 362 students from 4^th to 6^th grades in G-gu, Seoul and data were collected from April 1^st to November 30^th in 2017. Results showed that parents multicultural attitudes had moderate effects on relationships between adolescents multicultural awareness and social distance, especially physical contacts social distance toward different ethnics and culture. Moreover, teachers' multicultural attitudes had moderate effects on relationships between adolescents multicultural awareness and social distance, interrelational social distance, toward different ethnics and culture. With study findings, suggestions will be discussed in order for legislators and administrators to come up with an effective plan for dealing with integrating different ethnics in South Korean society.
