제3세계인 카리브해와 라틴 아메리카 지역을 도시지리 관점에서 이해하기 위해서는 개43 국가의 도시화 과정과 도시 형태를 고찰 할 필요가 있다. 해외지역 연구로서 유럽과 아시아 등에 대한 지리적 연구는 다수 존재하지만, 상대적으로 카리브해와 라틴 아메리카 연구는 적은 편이었다. 이 연구의 목적은 카리브해와 라틴 아메리카 지역 국가들의 다양한 도시화 과정과 인구 변화를 고찰하고, 특징적인 도시공간구조를 고찰하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 1961년부터 2020년까지 카리브해와 라틴아메리카 지역의 국가 인구와 도시화율 및 그 변화율을 산출하였다. 도시화 단계를 토대로 도시성장과 산업화와의 관계성에 대해 고찰하였다. 또한, 카리브해와 라틴아메리카의 일반적인 도시공간구조 모델을 토대로 공통적인 도시 형태를 도출하였다. 이들 지역의 특징은 도시 내부의 부유층과 빈곤층 간의 계급 분리가 극단적으로 나타나 이중도시로서의 성격이 뚜렷하다는 점이다. 이 연구는 카리브해와 라틴아메리카의 도시성장과 도시 형태에 대한 해외지역 연구로서의 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 향후 개별 도시에 대한 연구의 시작점으로도 중요성을 가진다.

It is necessary to look into the urbanization process and the urban form of 43 countries in order to understand the Caribbean Seas and Latin America so-called the third world from the perspective of urban geography. Although there have been many geographical papers as an areal study on Europe and Asia, research on the Caribbean Seas and Latin America relatively has been unknown. The purpose of this study is to examine various urbanization processes, population changes, and urban spatial structures of the Caribbean Seas and Latin America. It calculated the population, urbanization rates, percentage changes, and stages of the Caribbean Seas and Latin America from 1961 to 2020 and investigated the relationship between urban growth and industrialization. This study also elicited the common urban form of countries in the Caribbean Seas and Latin America based on the general urban spatial structure model. The characteristics lie in the dual city meaning notorious segregation between the haves and the have-nots. It will be a guideline of an areal study on urban growth and urban form of the Caribbean Seas and Latin America.

본 연구의 목적은 파나마 군부정권 시대인 1968-1989년 동안의 정치 자유화 과정을 분석하는 것이다. 특히 파나마 군부정권의 정치 자유화 과정이 실패했다는 관점에서 분석하려 한다. 파나마 군부정권의 정치 자유화 과정이 실패라고 보는 이유는 결정적으로 년1989 월12 일17 미국의 파나마에 대한 무력 침공을 중요한 요인이라고 보기 때문이다. 이런 관점에서, 제2장에서는 파나마에서 년1968-1989 동안 정치 자유화 과정을 역사적 측면에서 등장 배경으로서 간단하게 살펴보려 한다. 제3장에서는 군부정권의 정치 자유화 과정의 실패 요인으로서 토리호스 사망과 권력공백, 노리에가 등장, 경제 위기와 신자유주의 정책의 도입, 야권의 저항, 파나마 - 미국 관계의 악화 등의 관점에서 분석하려 한다. 제4장에서는 파나마 정치 자유화의 쟁점과 과제로서 정치 자유화의 실패 요인 5개를 중심으로 그들 간의 관계와 의미를 분 석하고 중요한 두 가지 질문에 대해서 고찰하고자 한다. 첫째, 왜 미국은 1977년 신파나마운하조약을 통해서 파나마에 대한 공식적인 통제와 개입을 포기했을까? 둘 째, 미국은 파나마를 1989년에 왜 무력으로 침공했을까? 등이다. 제5장은 결론으로서 파나마 군부정권의 정치 자유화 과정에 대한 함의를 논의하고자 한다.

This study attempts to analyze the period of 1968-1989 during the Panama military regime in terms of the political liberalization process of Torrijos, especially from the perspective that the political liberalization process of the military government in Panama failed. The reason why the Panamanian military regime's political liberalization process is considered a failure is that, crucially, the U.S. military invasion of Panama on December 17, 1989 is an important factor. From this point of view, Chapter 2 briefly examines the political liberalization process in Panama during 1968-1989 from a historical perspective as a background. Chapter 3 tries to analyze the failure factors of the military regime's political liberalization process from the perspective of the death of Torrijos, the appearance of Noriega, the economic crisis, the resistance from the opposition, and the deterioration of Panama-US relations. Chapter 4 analyzes the five factors that failed political liberalization as a whole as the issues and tasks of political liberalization in Panama, and analyzes their relationship and meaning, and considers two important questions. First, why did the US give up official control and intervention in Panama through the New Panama Canal Treaty in 1977? And second, why did the US invade Panama by force in 1989? etc. Chapter 5, as a conclusion, intends to discuss the implications of the political liberalization process of the military regime in Panama.

본 연구는 20세기 후반 이후 글로벌 식량 레짐의 변화에 따라 글로벌 남반구 국가의 주요 경제 성장 전략 중 하나로 부상한 비전통 농·식품 산업을 이론적·경험적인 측면에서 비판적으로 검 토하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구는 1990년대 이후 발전한 글로벌 식량 레짐의 특징 중 하나인 고부가 가치 식량의 생산과 수출이 글로벌 남반구 국가의 새로운 경제 성장 동력이 된 것에 주목하고, 이러한 비전통 수출 농·식품 산업이 지역 발전에 어떠한 함의를 가지는가에 대해 글로벌 식량 레짐론과 생태 마르크스주의론이라는 이론적 논의를 중심으로 논의한다. 이러한 이론적 논의를 기반으로 본 연구는 라틴아메리카 비전통 수출 농·식품 산업의 대표적인 사례인 아르헨티나 와인 산업과 페루의 아스파라거스 산업의 성장 붐과 지역 발전에의 영향을 비판적으로 검토한다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 아르헨티나와 페루의 비전통수출 농·식품 산업 발전은 지역뿐만 아니라 국가의 거시 경제 성장에 상당히 기여했으나, 이 과정에서 물, 토지,노 동 등에 대한 국가 혹은 지역 정부의 환' 경적 조정'이 수자원과 토지의 이용, 고용 기회 등과 관련해 지역에 존재하던 불평등 구조를 더욱 심화시켰음을 밝혔다.

The research aims to critically examine the non-traditional agro-food industry in theoretical and empirical terms, which has been promoted as a new strategy for economic growth since the late twentieth century. The study gives a special attention to value-added food production and export which have become a new economic growth strategy for countries in the global south. It attempts to examine what kind of implications this non-traditional agro-food industry has for local development, based on theoretical insights from global food regime theory and eco-Marxist perspectives. Based on this theoretical analysis, the research takes case studies of the wine industry in Argentina(Mendoza region) and the asparagus industry in Peru(Ica region) and see what these industries have done for local development. By examining these cases, the study argues that these industries deepened inherent inequality in each region regarding access to and use of water and land as well as employment, despite some positive impacts on both local and national economic growth.
