This study derives the optimal subsidy rate on the installation expenses of smart greenhouse farming system (SGFS) to maximize farm income. To derive the optimal support rate, this study determines the adoption rates of SGFS by the rate of subsidy using TOA-MD model, and estimated the price flexibility of tomato using inverse demand function. The adoption rate of SGFS by tomato farms at the current price level increases rapidly with 50% to 100% subsidy rates. The estimated the price flexibility coefficient of tomato is -5.12 which implies that 1% increase in tomato production induces 5.12% decrease in the price. Using the determined SGFS adoption rates and the estimated price flexibility of tomato, this study finds that the changes in farm income by adopting SGFS gradually increase from 35,210,000 KRW/ha without subsidy to 38,420,000 KRW/ha with the 55% subsidy rate, then the farm income changes rapidly decrease and turn to negative at the 73% subsidy rate. Hence, we can conclude that the optimal support rate on the SGFS installation costs is 55% to maximize farm income.

In this paper, the effect of receiving various forestry subsidies on the forestry income and economic surplus of forestry households is evaluated using the Propensity Score Matching(PSM) method. The results indicate that the four types of forestry subsidies, which are public, small-scale, and two individual small-scale support programs, have positive effects on both the forestry income and economic surplus of forestry households. The effects of the two individual small-scale support programs are estimated to outweigh the effects of small-scale support programs on forestry income and economic surplus. It can be interpreted that the support program of eco-friendly forest product cultivation management, which is a fertilizer support program, have a large marginal effect that can have a direct effect on crop production. Unlike the support program of infrastructure construction that has a long-term effect, the effect of the support program of forest product commercialization is analyzed to be evident in the short term.

Fresh Korean ginseng needs more credibility in the Vietnam market since fresh ginseng imported from China is increasing, and the Vietnam government promotes its national Ngoc Linh ginseng brand. Therefore, this study determines factors of three shopping places (the department store, supermarket, and ginseng specialty store), the certification label of good agriculture products (Viet GAP), Korean nationality, and three famous private brands of CheongKwanJang, HanSamIn, and Geumhong affecting Vietnamese consumers' fresh ginseng choices based on 897 respondents from Hanoi and Hochiminh City in January 2018. Conditional and random parameter logits are used to find differences in the independent assumptions' relaxation among irrelevant alternatives. Hausman test for IIA assumptions holds for the choice of the department store, ginseng specialty store, and None. Overall results show that shopping places, the Korean national flag, and the existence of VietGap positively affect Vietnam consumers' choices. However, none of the Korean private brands could significantly affect Vietnamese choice for fresh ginseng products. The shopping place of ginseng specialty stores gets the highest WTP, followed by supermarkets and department stores. Korean national flag also shows a high WTP, which is higher than Vietgap, a certificate from Vietnam agricultural products. Female consumers tend to pay more WTP than males. Hochiminh consumers are willing to pay more than Hanoi consumers on average. Of course, the high-income consumers tend to pay more WTP than the low-income group. However, the low-income groups still demand fresh ginseng at a significant price. Understanding different price effects by consumer groups seem helpful for small and medium enterprises to market their ginseng products into Vietnam by further considering the origin of Korean nationality.

This study examines households' habit formation in consumption and investigates how household budget allocations are related to welfare changes. The results of the dynamic almost ideal demand system show that there exist habit persistence in purchasing food, clothing, housing, and health items and depletion in other items. Regarding the price responsiveness, the results reveal that price changes result in household budget reallocations with varying income and substitution effects. Moreover, the compensating variations are used to measure welfare changes between 2003 and 2016. The results represent that the increased prices result in welfare losses despite households' budget reallocations across all income quintiles.

Competition in the Korean milk market is being intensified with the emergence of a variety of product-differentiated milk. The purpose of this study is to measure implicit values of functional attributes of fluid milk products in Korea, which is a representative example of product differentiation. Hedonic price analysis and households' milk purchase data were employed for this study. Our findings suggest that Korean consumers have a high value for lactose-free property (25.4% price premium) over conventional milk. This reflects the fact that many Korean adults have lactose intolerance and the lactose-free properties can help digest milk without negative symptoms. In addition, the estimated price premium for the calcium-fortified attribute was positive but a little higher over the base case at 2.4% level. In the case of vitamin fortification, it was found to have a negative value (-34.6%). Our results are expected to be useful for the milk industry to make decisions about the investment, production, or pricing strategy.
