The literature has shown that social support enhances people’s health and quality of life. However, in the Korean context―where a strong negative stigma is attached to single parents―building a social support is a major challenge for single parents. To provide social support to single mothers in Korea, our study focuses on a one-to-one peer support program provided by a single-parents association in Korea that matches volunteer mentors to volunteer mentees. We conducted focus group interviews with 19 voluntary divorced or widowed single mothers who participated in the program and applied a theme-based analysis. The results reveal: 1) women’s motivations for program participation, 2) what activities occurred during the program, 3) self-reported experiences and outcomes, and 4) participants’ suggestions for improving the program. The study is the first to examine a one-to-one peer support program among single parents in Korea, and it provides organizations and groups that want to design, develop, and evaluate a one-to-one peer support program with the conceptual basis and specific examples to do so effectively.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among poverty perceived by parents, inattention, social withdrawal, academic efficacy and the depression of children. Methods: The research subjects consisted of 2596(boy: 1307(50.3%), girl: 1289(49.7%)) Children of KCYPS 2018 panel(the first year survey) by the National Youth Policy Institute. Participants completed self-report questionnaires designed to assess poverty perceived by parents, inattention, social withdrawal, academic efficacy and the depression of children. Data were analyzed based on the mediating effects between variables using SPSS Process Macro model 6. Results: The result of the study showed inattention, social withdrawal, and academic efficacy completely mediated the relationship between poverty perceived by parents and their children's depression. Secondly, the dual mediation effect of inattention, social withdrawal, and academic efficacy was significant. Thirdly, there was a sequential triple meditation effect among social withdrawal, inattention and academic efficacy. This means that the more parents perceive poverty, the more their children will experience social withdrawal, which again leads to inattention, dropping academic efficacy and increasing depression. Conclusion: On the basis of the results of this study, the implications on the case conceptualization and intervention strategy with a focus on poverty and the depression of children and future research are discussed.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to find out more about the connection between the trust and image of elderly care facilities and the burden of support. Methods: The analysis was conducted on 111 main guardians of the elderly who entered a nursing facility for the elderly. Results: First, the subjects showed that they have positive trust in and apositive image of the nursing home for the elderly they are currently using and that the support burden was not high. Second, variables indicating the difference in trust and image in elderly care facilities vary depending on the cost of spending on elderly care and whether elderly people are subscribed to pensions. Third, there was a positive correlation between the change in family relationship after utilization of the nursing home and the trust and image of the nursing home for the elderly as perceived by the caregiver. Conclusions: This study is significant in confirming that there is a correlation between the trust and image of the nursing home for the elderly recognized by the main caregiver of the elderly and the change in the family relationship of the caregiver after admission.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare determinants of public pension benefit eligibility and benefits by gender and discuss their policy implications. Methods: From Data from the Korean Retirement & Income Study(Ver.8.0) conducted in 2019, 4,961 elders over 62 years of age(Male 1,998, Female 2,963) were selected and analyzed. Results: The results are summarized as follows. First, age have positive effect on public pension benefit eligibility of male elders but negative effect on that of female elders. Second, having a spouse have negative effect on public pension benefit eligibility and benefits of female elders but positive effect on those of male elders. Third, education level have positive effect on public pension benefits for male elders and female elders. Fourth, earnings have negative effect on the public pension benefits of male elders. Fifth, earned income have negative effect on public pension benefit eligibility and benefits of male elders but negative effect on those of female elders. Sixth, retirement preparation have positive effect on public pension benefit eligibility and benefits for both male elders and female elders. Seventh, self responsibility for retirement have positive effect on with public pension benefit eligibility and benefits for both male elders and female elders. Conclusions: These findings indicate that it is are needed to strengthen multilateral policy for retirement income security, and in particular, strengthen multilateral policy for women's public retirement income security.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the relationship with original family of the unmarried mom on the unmarried mom's depression through the unmarried mom's parenting efficacy as well as the unmarried mom's perceived experience of discrimination. Method: The study was based on a survey using 300 unmarried single moms who are rearing children younger than those in the 3rd grade of elementary school. Results: The results showed that the mediation effect was significant after controlling for the household's income and the age of the first child of the unmarried single mom. Specifically, the relationship with the unmarried single mom's original family is negatively associated with the unmarried single mom's depression through parenting efficacy and unmarried mom's perceived experience of discrimination. Conclusion: The results suggest that the relationship with the original family helps to reduce the unmarried single mom's depression by through enhancing parenting efficacy and reducing perceived experiences of discrimination.

Objective: This study was analyzed using the Q methodology in order to grasp the perception type and characteristics of the childcare policy of the childcare center director who is in charge of direct work in the field of childcare. Methods: After forming the Q recruitment group for the childcare policy, Q statements of 33 Q samples were extracted, 34 childcare center directors were selected as P samples, and 33 statements were collected through Q classification, and then the QUANL program was used. A Principal Component Factor Analysis was conducted. Results: As a result of the study, the perception of coaching competence was classified into four types. The first type is the “pursuit of childcare policy realization”. The second type is the “childcare protection policy promotion type”. The third type is the “childcare-first policy support pursuit type”. The 4th type is the “seeking change in childcare system”. Conclusions: Through this study, the perception of the childcare policy was confirmed by the childcare center directors, and based on these results, basic data for establishing the correct direction for the development of the childcare policy and the implementation plan were presented. In addition, this study conducted a research on the perception of childcare policy for childcare center directors, and further research on childcare policy perception is needed for various childcare-related persons such as parents and daycare teachers in the future.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to discover the family life experiences of single-parent family adolescents. Methods: For the study, six adolescents in their teens from single-parent families living in Jeollabukdo were interviewed in-depth to analyze qualitative data. Results: The experience of teenagers in single-parent families was classified into five categories: (1) Becoming a single-parent family without realizing it (2) Being thankful to single parent for raising and protecting me (3) Non-parenting parent whose relationships are complicated by longing, love and hatred, as well as relationship weakening (4) The hidden difficulties of being a single-parent's child (5) Support from grandparents and brothers, but adaptation that requires a lot of self-sufficiency. As a major result, adolescents were satisfied and trusted in their relationship with their parenting parent and had feelings of longing and love for their non-parenting parent. In particular, adolescents were interested in the dating and remarriage of their single parent. Adolescents tried to adapt to various emotional difficulties caused by parental divorce through their own efforts. Conclusions: Considering the results in this study, divorced parents, teachers and the community, and intact families should take a keener interest in and develop a greater understanding of single parent adolescents.

This study was purposed to explore the experiences of web-based fathering education program for the fathers of adolescent children. The data were collected by in-depth interviews with 8 participants. The 8 participants were the fathers of adolescent children. They were invited to participate in the study through a purpose-sampling method. The collected data were analyzed by a constant comparative analysis.
The findings of the first question were categorized into the following two themes: (1) by his own voluntary needs, (2) by recommendation of others. The findings of the second question were categorized into the four themes: (1) chances of a new realization, (2) improvement of parenting competence and parenting efficacy as a father, (3) increase in satisfaction with life, (4) enhancement of satisfaction with family relationship. The findings of the third question were categorized into the two themes: (1) feedback on curriculum and operations, (2) feedback on contents of program. This study has a practical significance for improving fathering education program for the fathers of adolescent children in terms of curriculum, operation, and contents.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of children's Pre-school school readiness and academic performance related factors on children's academic accomplishment during the lower grades in elementary school period. This study used data from Panel Study of Korea children(PSKC) 7th∼10th survey [Data file and code book] by Korea Insititute of Childcare and Education(KICCE). They are 320 cases out of 2150 total cases, eliminate which have a missing values, for analysis. The results and proposal are as follows:
First, Children's school adjustment factor has positive continuous effects on children's academic accomplishment during the lower grades in elementary school period. While, the factors like Pre-school school readiness, child's Self-Esteem and father's level of education have positive effects only in the first year of entrance into school. Executive function difficulty factor has meaningful negative effects until the 2nd grade. Second, As a result of analyze correlation of the lower grades in elementary school students' academic accomplishment and school adjustment sub-factors, academic performance adjustment sub-factor is highly correlated with academic accomplishment. Also, correlation among the school adjustment sub-factors, academic performance adjustment and peer adjustment have high correlation than other's. This study found that the lower grades in elementary school children's academic accomplishment is as higher as their school adjustment level. these school adjustment is as higher as their academic performance adjustment and prosociality skill level.

The birth of a child is a life-changing experience, but little is known about how it changes wives' marital satisfaction and what explains any such change. This study addressed these questions by using data from the first and sixth waves of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families. The author selected married women aged 44 or under at the sixth wave who also participated in the first wave and maintained their marital relationship between the waves. Based on the women who had valid responses to the variables(N=1,250), the author first found that having a child and having additional children were significantly associated with a decline in marital satisfaction. Second, the associations were fully mediated by a decline in leisure activities that the wives shared with their husbands. Third, a decrease in husbands' participation in housework also mediated the associations between childbirth and wives' marital dissatisfaction. The results suggest that setting aside time for shared leisure activities and increasing husbands' participation in housework after childbirth help married women avoid marital declines.

The purpose of this study is to research the adoption experience and post-service needs of adolescents in overseas adoptees. This study is a qualitative survey of nine overseas adoptees. The beneficiaries have confirmed the adoption experience and post-adoption service needs of teenagers.
The results of this study will be the basic data for developing services to help psychosocial adaptation of teenager adoptees in the current growth process. The study identified two upper categories, five subcategories, and 20 central themes. In other words, the two upper categories are psychosocial adaptation and post-adoption service experiences and needs, and the five lower categories are daily life, race-related issues, adoption issues, post-adoption service use, and post-adoption service needs. Among them, the daily life category is classified into four small categories: life satisfaction, parent and family relationship, school life and career, and friendship. Three central themes within two subcategories were derived.

This study was conducted for the purpose of research to identify subjective perception types for life Respect and to analyze their characteristics. The first step in the implementation process of this study was to secure a statement by conducting literature research, survey and interview step by step to establish Q group. In the second stage, Q-sample was over the course of four Validation. In the third stage, a total of 60 P samples were confirmed, and Q-sorting was conducted to the selected P samples. In step 5, the factors analysis was conducted using the QUANL-PC program.
As a result, there are five types of recognition for life respect. After naming reflecting the interpretation of characteristics by type, it was confirmed through expert content validity. Content validity was made on a five-point scale, and it went through the revision-revision process in consideration of the naming by type suggested by the subjects. The final type of destructive naming is type 1 'common sense non-severe', type 2 'active human-centered', type 3 'objective tolerant', type 4 'natural circularism' and type 5 'Social responsibility type. Through this study, we can see that the recognition of life respect needs to reflect the values and dignity of life respect, as well as active practice, the coexistence of nature and human beings, and social phenomena.

The purposes of this research are to examine and verify the effects of family health and infants ego-resilience on peer interaction. Total 523 questionnaires of the mothers and homeroom teachers were analyzed for infants of the ages 3~5 who are attending in day care center located in Jeonbuk area.
As a result, first, for general characteristics of family health, infants ego-resilience, and peer interaction, family health was higher than infants' ego-resilience and peer interaction. Second, family health and infant ego resilience showed a significant positive correlation with peer interaction. Third, ego elasticity of infants was found to have a significant effect on peer interaction. Only values and goal sharing among the sub-factors of family health affected the hindrance. This research confirmed that infants' ego-resilience made an effect on peer interaction and implies that infants' ego-resilience can be basic data to promote peer interaction.

This study identifies the relationship between the character and leadership of young children in an empirical way so as to offer basic data needed for the enhancement of children's leadership. To that end, through child education schools, 500 mothers whose children were 4 and/or 5 years old were surveyed. A final collected 427 copies of the questionnaire were analyzed.
The findings of this study indicate: First, the character and leadership of children differed according to sex and age, indicating that females had a higher level of character and leadership than males. Second, the leadership of the lower 30% children and the upper 30% children in terms of character level was analyzed, revealing that the leadership of upper 30% was higher than the lower 30%. Third, the relationship between the character and leadership of children was analyzed, indicating that the sub-factors of character of children had a positive relationship with the sub-factors of leadership. Fourth, among the sub-factors of the character of children, personal value and social value had a significant effect on the leadership of children, which confirmed that the character of children could have an effect on the leadership of children.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of Child care center director's coaching ability on teacher's psychological well-being. To achieve this research objective, child care teachers working at day care centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were distributed through mail and direct visits. A total of 270 were retrieved and used as this research material for the questionnaire. The results of the study are as follows. First, it was found that the director's coaching capacity and psychological welfare, recognized by child care teachers, showed an unusually high level of awareness. Second, there was a significant static correlation between all factors except the relationship between the autonomy of psychological welfare sense and the performance evaluation of coaching. Third, multiple regression analyses were conducted to verify the effect of daycare center director's coaching ability on teacher's psychological well-being, and the performance evaluation and relationship.
