Questions in Chinese are divided into WH-Question, Yes-No Question, A-not-A Question and Alternative Question, and these questions are teaching items for Chinese learners when they start to learn Chinese language. Among them, A-not-A Question has something in common with both Yes-No Question and Alternative Question. In the previous Chinese education, the structure of A-not-A Question is dealt with without teaching the function of A-not-A Question. In addition, there are a lot of errors in the structure of A-not-A Question because students learn the A-not-A Question at the beginning stage of Chinese learning. In this research, I planned to explore that A-not-A Question is an essential teaching item at the initial stage of Chinese learning despite of frequent errors. This analysis shows that A-not-A Question is the essential teaching item which should be instructed properly and correctly. Also, it turns out that the present education system, training only sentence structure at the beginning stage of learning, needs to be changed and improved.
