This paper proposed a new formula for predicting acoustic power transmission loss of simple expansion chamber with two internal partitions. Seventeen cases of computational results were performed and the database was constructed for the TL according to the various positions of internal partitions. Using this database, firstly, the formula for the peak values of TL at certain frequencies was developed using the least square estimation. Secondly, the formula for the TL curve could be obtained automatically with the input data of the positions of two internal partitions. The formula of TL developed in this paper showed good agreement with computational results. This formula will be helpful for the positioning of internal partitions to improve TL at target frequencies.

1수치해석을 통한 대형 선박용 프로펠러의 비공동소음 예측

Noises from the large scale marine propeller are calculated numerically on non-cavitation condition. The hydrodynamic analysis is carried out by potential based panel method with time marching free wake approach. The distribution of hydrodynamic loads on the propeller surface and noise signals are obtained using the unsteady Bernoulli``s equation and the Farasssat``s formula respectively. It turns out that the noise signal at the narrow band shows strong peak at the blade passage frequency, and the peak value at the 1/3 octave band also shows the same trend. Noise signals and directivity patterns for both the thickness and the loading noise are compared with each other. The directivity pattern for the loading noise shows minor lobe at the backward side of the rotating disc plane.

The transmission loss(TL) has been widely used as the acoustic performance index of industrial mufflers. Industrial mufflers usually consist of several partitions with perforated plate. In this study, firstly, the computational model for a typical industrial muffler was performed and validated by comparing with the experimental results. Secondly, the effects of the porosity of the perforated plates on the acoustical TL were investigated and the database of the tendencies were set up. Finally, on the basis of these tendencies, the modified muffler with better TL than conventional one could be suggested.

Recently, creating a signature sound for a brand has become more important in the automotive industry. It is important to remember that the people inside a vehicle are not the only one, who assess the signature sound, exhaust sound has become a more important factor. Most research has used psycho-acoustic parameter to objectively measure the aesthetic qualities of exhaust sound. However, these results do not parallel the results from subjective analysis. Therefore, this research focused on developing a method for objective quantification to assess the aesthetic qualities of exhaust sound in order to help develop a more appealing signature sound. To do so, the actual exhaust sound was synthesized and subjectively assessed at varied frequencies samples of 30 individuals employed at sejong R&D center. The results were analyzed using the science of harmony scale.

Field balancing is required in any kind of phase information for the determination location balancing mass toward a rotor unbalance mass. Phase or phase angle is a measurement of the relationship of how one vibration signal which relates to another vibration signal and is commonly used to calculate the placement of balance weight. In this paper, A right guideline shows the photo optical speed sensor as the external Key Phasor is a very useful when diagnosing machinery vibration problemson considering a phase lag comparing to the laser optical speed sensor. Some experimental results generate the interesting phase errors when appling to a wrong conditions. So, Usage of photo optical speed sensor which is used primarily to measure the shaft rotating speed serves as a reference for measuring vibration phase information has effect on the placement of phase angle how it was misunderstood. This paper will help a right method to search for the position of balancing weight and serves as baseline for further measurements using low cost and much easier user convenience. It is concluded that the propose baseline is likely to be applicable to apply to the practical field balancing weight.

Electro-mechanical actuator installed on aircraft consists of a decelerator which magnifies the torque in order to rotate an axis connected with aircraft control surface, a control section which controls the motor assembly through receiving orders from cockpit and a motor assembly which rotates the decelerator. Electro-mechanical actuator controls aircraft altitude, position, landing, takeoff, etc. It is an important part of a aircraft. Aircraft maneuvering causes vibrations to electro-mechanical actuator. Vibrations may result in structural fatigue. For that reason, it is necessary to analyze the system structural safety. In order to analyze the system structural safety. It is needed reasonable finite element model and structural response stress closed to real value. In this paper, analytic model is derived by using the simplified finite element model, and damping ratio which is closely related to response stress is derived by using modal test. So, we developed analytic model in less than 10 % error rate, compared with modal test. Vibration response stress close to real value was estimated from analytic model modified with modal experimental damping ratio. Estimation method for damping ratio with empirical formula was suggested partly. Finally, It was proved that electro-mechanical actuator had reasonable structure margin of safety at environmental random 3σstress during life cycle.

The paper deals with the energy transmission of the elastic waves obliquely transmitting and refracting through a plate and a pipe. By calculating the transmitting ratio depending on the incidence angle, the angle corresponding to the maximum transmission was determined theoretically and considered in the design of ultrasonic transducers for flow velocimetry. Experiments were carried out by using prototypes of the transducers. Experimentally-obtained transmission ratios were compared with and confirmed the theoretically-calculated results.
