이 글은 우리나라에서 법학전문대학원 제도 도입 3년에 대한 평가의 일환으로, 법학전문대학원을 졸업한 변호사들의 진로 확대를 둘러싼 몇 가지 쟁점을 현황과 문제점 및 바람직한 해결방안을 제시하는 것을 내용으로 한다. 준법지원인 제도, 법무담당당 제도 등 전형적인 대안의 한계를 검토한 후, 변호사에 대한 사실상의 정원제 및 감축론 주장을 비판하면서, 새로운 법조인양성제도 하에서 변호사의 위상과 역할을 지적한다. 관련하여 신규 변호사들에 대한 의무적인 실무수습제도, 겸직 및 사내변호사에 대한 규제 등 문제점을 제기하고 있고, 변호사 중개제도 및 법률 구조의 활성화, 질서 있는 취업지도 등을 제안하고 있다.

This article is a tentative proposal for the promotion of career opportunities for the graduates of the new law school system in Korea. As the first graduates passed the bar exam and arc called to the bar in 2012 there are some worries and queries. Of those, the main issues are about the new lawyers`` competence and the impact on the legal service market due to the increased number of graduates. The author reviews the pros and cons of the new system and the necessary remedies for the successful launching of the new system. The author suggests not only promoting career opportunities in legal compliance officers, state attorneys or public legal aid areas but also amending professional ethical rules on the in-house lawyers and referral system. which are essential for the bright future of Korean law society.
