The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of wearing a soft knee brace during balance training on paretic side foot pressure and knee joint muscle strength in stroke patients. The recruited 20 stroke patients were randomized into 10 experimental group and 10 control group. All subjects were subjected to balance training, and only the experimental group was trained in balance while wearing a soft knee brace. Experimental group and the control group before and after the intervention showed significant increases in foot pressure and knee joint muscle strength on the paralyzed side (p<0.05), experimental group showed a significant increase in foot pressure and knee joint muscle strength compared to the control group (p<0.05). This study confirmed that wearing a soft knee brace had a positive effect on paretic side foot pressure and knee joint muscle strength in stroke patients.

This study was conducted to develop a Web-GIS based monitoring module of smart city that can effectively respond, manage and improve situation in all stages of illegal dumping management on a city scale. First, five technologies were set for the core technical elements of the module configuration. Five core technical elements are as follows; video screening technology based on motion vector analysis, human behavior detection based on intelligent video analytics technology, mobile app for receiving civil complaints about illegal dumping, illegal dumping risk model and street cleanliness map, Web-GIS based situation monitoring technology. The development contents and results for each set of core technical elements were evaluated. Finally, a Web-GIS based 'illegal dumping monitoring module' was proposed. It is possible to collect and analyze city data at the local government level through operating the proposed module. Based on this, it is able to effectively detect illegal dumpers at relatively low cost and identify the tendency of illegal dumping by systematically managing habitual occurrence areas. In the future, it is expected to be developed in the form of an add-on module of the smart city integration platform operated by local governments to ensure interoperability and scalability.

In this study, additive manufacturing technology was applied to restore a planner miller that was unusable due to aging. The drive spur gear of the planner miller was inoperable due to many defects in the teeth. The shape of the defective gear teeth was restored by deposition of the defective teeth using the DED method. However, as the location of the deposition head and the location of the set origin became farther, the deposition shape was different from the modeling shape. Nonetheless, since the modeling of the deposition part was designed to be larger than the tooth shape of the original gear, it was possible to completely restore all gear teeth through post-processing. The arrangement interval of the flow lines of the deposition part was narrower than that of the substrate. The hardness of the substrate was 172 HV, and that of the deposition part was 345 HV, which was twice as high as that of the substrate.

In this paper, the design result of robotic tools and the development of robot control system for chemical coupler assembly are presented. This research aims to eliminate the risk of chemicals exposed to human operators by developing the robotic tools and robot automation system for chemical tank lorry unloading that were done manually. Due to tight tolerance between couplers, even small pose error may result in very large internal force. In order to resolve the problem, the 6-axis compliance device is employed, which can provide not only enough compliance between couplers but also F/T sensing. The 6-axis compliance device having large force and moment capacity is designed. A simple linear gripper with rack-and-pinion is designed to grasp two sizes of couplers. The proposed robot automation system consists of 6-DOF collaborative robot with offset wrist, 6-axis compliance device with F/T sensing, linear gripper, and two robot visions.

Hydrogen embrittlement leads to the damages in bolts, nut, especially, high pressure valves, in the semiconductor facilities, hydrogen vehicles, hydrogen stations and so on. Monel material has higher strength than SUS material. Therefore, even though Monel material with special alloy is usually used to prevent the hydrogen embrittlement, it needs powerful drawing system to manufacture the rectangular or hexagonal bar using circular bar. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of plastic deformation of Monel material and 2 rollers of rolling unit in plastic limit through numerical analysis. As the results, it was predicted that, based on mean stress, as the rolling step was increased, the rolling force of rolling unit was decreased. In addition, the heat treatment for Monel material was needed because of residual stress due to plastic deformation. As for rollers, the roller was safe about 1.86 times compared with that of ultimate strength. In this study, as the roller 2 showed larger stress than roller 1, thus, roller 2 should be designed carefully to guarantee the safety. Further it was confirmed that the reaction force of roller could be helpful in bearing design.

Currently, in Korea, aerial photogrammetry is being studied for cadastral boundaries and numerical maps. Since the announced value of cadastral survey is closely related to ownership, the accuracy and reliability of the published value should be emphasized above all else. However, although aerial photogrammetry has great advantages in economic feasibility and surveying efficiency, it has many limitations when extracting the boundary of cadastral survey based on the acquired image. In order to improve these limitations, in this study, an aerial target was applied to obtain reliability improvement. Therefore, in order to examine the usefulness of aerial photogrammetry for cadastral survey application, cadastral boundary extraction and accuracy comparison analysis were conducted.

Chemical accidents are increasing day by day as the industry develops. To prevent such chemical accidents, Korea enacted the Chemicals Control Act. Through these laws, systematic management of chemical substances began. There are various positions in the companies. hazardous chemical supervisors, equipment and technical human, operators and employees. Chemicals-related education for each position should be provided. As a result of the survey, hazardous chemical supervisors and equipment and technical human liked the overall content of the Chemicals Control Act and the education subject on safety management standards for facilities. Conversely, the operators liked the course on how to wear personal protective equipment. The employees preferred subjects such as classification of chemical substances and prevention of chemical accidents. Currently, various modular textbooks are widely available. Rather than general education, it is necessary to select and provide customized subjects that are preferred and interested according to the position. Then it will be more effective in understanding harzardous chemical substances and in preventing chemical accidents.

STS 410, a representative martensitic stainless steel, contains 13 % chromium and is used for building materials, automobile parts, office equipment, kitchen utensils, and tableware. In general, the strength of STS 410 changes by the carbon content, and STS 410 of low carbon has excellent toughness and high carbon has excellent abrasion resistance. In this study, a fatigue test was performed on the STS 410 material to evaluate the exact fatigue limit and to evaluate the behavior of the material against fatigue. In addition, the effect on burnishing, a kind of plastic processing that creates a smooth surface by pressing a ball or roller on the inner and outer surfaces of the material was evaluated. The fatigue limit was 509 MPa for the STS 410 material, and the result was 54.5 % of the tensile strength. The fatigue limit was 542 MPa for the specimen of diamind burnished STS 410 material, and it was 58.5 % of the tensile strength.

This paper relates to a method of modeling the thrust dynamic load caused by the thrust variation occurring on the blade due to the tower shadow below the rated wind speed. A method that uses thrust coefficient is presented by introducing “tower shadow coefficient of thrust variation”. For a 2MW wind turbine, the values of “tower shadow coefficient of thrust variation” are calculated and analyzed at wind speeds below the rated. The dynamic load model of thrust under tower shadow is evaluated in Matlab/Simulink using the obtained “tower shadow coefficient of thrust variation” and thrust coefficient. It shows that the thrust variations acting on the three blades by the tower shadow can be expressed using both the thrust coefficient and the introduced “tower shadow coefficient of thrust variation”.

This paper proposes a method related to fault tolerance operation and characteristic analysis of asymmetric 6-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor. In general, motor drive systems with multi-phase structures can be continuously operated despite a reduction of power and speed by using a phase changeover or control techniques according to the failures. As a result, it is widely used in industrial fields such as aviation and defense, which require high efficiency and high reliability. In this paper, the second order ripple of the electrical fundamental freuqnecy occurs in the dq-axis currents of the synchronous coordinate system through mathematical analysis according to the switch open of the dual 3-phase inverter. Therefore, the fault tolerant operation method is presented by applying the fault detection method with a constant cycle for continuous operations. The effectiveness of the proposed fault tolerance operation method is verified through the several experiments.
