In this paper, the evaluation equations proposed by Tange et al. and Ando et al. were used to evaluate the threshold stress intensity factor △K(R/th(s)) and fatigue limit , △σ(R/WC) according to the small crack of offshore structural steel F690. Despite the differences in concept and shape of the two equations, the △K(R/th(s)) and △σ(R/WC) proved completely consistent. It is possible to use these equations to evaluate the dependence of the crack length on the △K(R/th(s)) and △σ(R/WC) of structures made of all steel grades. With these equations, the characteristics of microcracks can be quantitatively evaluated, and the safety and reliability of the structure can be secured.

Biomass is material that is comprehensive of carbonaceous materials from plants, crops, animals, and algae. It has been used as one of heating fuel since the beginning the emergence of human beings. Since biomass is regarded as carbon-neutral energy source, it has recently been attracting attention as an energy source that can replace fossil fuels. The most widely applied field is distributed power generation, and a method of generating electric power by driving an internal combustion engine with syngas produced by gasifier is chosen. While the composition of the syngas produced in gasifiers changes depending on the air flowing into the reactor, commercialized gasifiers so far do not control the air flowing into the reactor. When the inner pressure in reactor increases, the air sucked into the reactor is reduced. That change of amount of air makes the composition of syngas varied. Those variations of composition of syngas cause the incomplete combustion hence the power output of engine drops, which is a critical weakness of the gasification technology. In this paper, to produce the uniformly composed syngas, PID control is applied. The result was shown when the amount of air into the reactor is supplied with the constant amount using PID control, the standard deviation of caloric values of syngas is around 2[%] of its average value. Meanwhile the gasifier without PID control has the standard deviation of caloric values is around 7[%]. Therefore, Adopting PID control to supply constant air to the gasifier is highly desirable.

This study proposed a new approach to impliment a robusut control of comsumerfriendly flexible manipulator with five joint for untact working in filed work-site. The output redefinition approach was used to overcome the non minimum phase characteristic of the system. The new output is defined so that the zero dynamics related to this output are stable. The control strategy is based on an computed torque method which is applicable to a class of time-invariamt phase linear systems whose uncertainties appear in output loop stable. The controller is composed of a stabilizing joint controller and an output redefinition tracking controller. Experimental results are also presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Prognostics and health management (PHM) is recently converging throughout the industry, one of the trending issue is to detect abnormal conditions at decanter centrifuge during water treatment facilities. Wastewater treatment operation produces corrosive gas which results failures on attached sensors. This scenario causes frequent sensor replacement and requires highly qualified manager's visual inspection while replacing important parts such as bearings and screws. In this paper, we propose anomaly detection by measuring the vibration of the decanter centrifuge based on the video camera images. Measuring the vibration of the screw decanter by applying the optical flow technique, the amount of movement change of the corresponding pixel is measured and fed into the LSTM model. As a result, it is possible to detect the normal/warning/dangerous state based on LSTM classification. In the future work, we aim to gather more abnormal data in order to increase the further accuracy so that it can be utilized in the field of industry.

The automatic defect sorting function of machinery parts is being introduced to the automation of the manufacturing process. In the final stage of automation of the manufacturing process, it is necessary to apply computer vision rather than human visual judgment to determine whether there is a defect. In this paper, we introduce a deep learning method to improve the classification performance of typical mechanical parts, such as welding parts, galvanized round plugs, and electro galvanized nuts, based on the results of experiments. In the case of poor welding, the method to further increase the depth of layer of the basic deep learning model was effective, and in the case of a circular plug, the surrounding data outside the defective target area affected it, so it could be solved through an appropriate pre-processing technique. Finally, in the case of a nut plated with zinc, since it receives data from multiple cameras due to its three-dimensional structure, it is greatly affected by lighting and has a problem in that it also affects the background image. To solve this problem, methods such as two-dimensional connectivity were applied in the object segmentation preprocessing process. Although the experiments suggested that the proposed methods are effective, most of the provided good/defective images data sets are relatively small, which may cause a learning balance problem of the deep learning model, so we plan to secure more data in the future.

For grippers of industrial robots, parallel grippers and multi-function finger grippers are used. The former has the advantage of low cost but has the disadvantage of low precision, and the latter has the advantage of excellent precision but has the disadvantage of being expensive. In this paper, we developed a grip that can detects the various shapes of the object to be gripped on the gripper surface by using mesured pressure information frome Veloset Sheet sensor so that the gripper can be gripped without deforming the surface of the gripper. Also we did not only developed the array type gripper and 4 array type grippers (ATG), but also confirmed the usefulness of array type gripper developed in this study according to the 4 predefined evaluation criteria

In this paper, we introduce the improved control method are communicated between a master and a slave robot in the teleoperation systems. When the master and slave robots are located in different places, time delay is unavoidable under the network environment and it is well known that the system can become unstable when even a small time delay exists in the communication channel. The time delay may cause instability in teleoperation systems especially if those systems include haptic feedback. This paper presents a control scheme based on the estimator with virtual master model in teleoperation systems over the network. As the behavior of virtual model is tracking the one of master model, the operator can control real master robot by manipulating the virtual robot. And LQG/LTR scheme was adopted for the compensation of un-modeled dynamics. The approach is based on virtual master model, which has been implemented on a robot over the network. Its performance is verified by the computer simulation and the experiment.

The steel wire or steel bar processing process applied to the manufacture of various bolts and power transmission shafts was improved by applying in-line phosphate film treatment technology. By applying a polymer lubricant for a non-reactive metal forming process and a non-reactive non-phosphorus lubricating coating agent, the film formation for each process time was comparatively analyzed and reviewed. Compared to the nine processes applied previously, the in-line phosphate film treatment technology applied with only two processes has been effectively improved in terms of reduction of treatment time, reduction of facility installation area, prevention of water pollution due to wastewater, and non-use of ozone-depleting substances. In addition, it was found that it can have an important effect on productivity improvement and price competitiveness from the simplification of quality control and process control as well as improvement of the working environment.

The purpose of this study is to analyze an economic assessment of PV-ESS systems based on the power generation performance data of solar power (PV) operating in domestic area, and to calculate the optimal capacity of the energy storage system. In this study, PVs in Gyeonggi-do, Jeollabuk-do, and Gyeongsangbuk-do were targeted, and PVs in this area were assumed to be installed on a general site, and the research was conducted by applying weights based on the facility's capacity. All the analysis was conducted using the actual amount of KPX transactions of PVs in 2019. In order to calculate the optimal capacity of PCS and BESS according to GHI, PV with a minimum/maximum/central value was selected by comparing the solar radiation before the horizontal plane between three years (2017-2019) of the location where PV was installed. As a result of the analysis, in Gyeonggi-do, if the REC weight decreases to 3.4 when there is no change in the cost of installing BESS and PCS, it is more economical to link BESS than PV alone operation of PV. In Jeollabuk-do, it was analyzed that if the REC weight was reduced to 3.6, it was more likely to link BESS than PV operated alone. In Gyeongsangbuk-do, it was analyzed that if the REC weight was reduced to 3.4, it was more likely to link BESS than PV operated alone.

The aim of this study is to provide the dynamic convergence index that reflected the inherent characteristics of the convergence phenomenon and utilized the nationallyfunded R&D projects data, thereby suggesting useful information about the direction of the national convergence R&D strategy. The dynamic convergence index that we suggested was made of two indicators: persistency and diversity. From a time-series perspective, the persistency index, which measures the degree of continuous convergence of multidisciplinary nationally-funded R&D projects, and the diversity index, which measures the degree of binding with heterogeneous research areas. We conducted the empirical experiment with 151,248 convergence R&D projects during the 2015∼2021 time period. The results showed that convergence R&D projects in both public health and life sciences appeared the highest degree of persistency. It was presumed that the degree of persistency has increased again due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the degree of diversity has risen with combining with disciplinary such as materials, chemical engineering, and brain science areas to solve social problems including mental health, depression, and aging. This study not only provides implications for improving the concept and definition of dynamic convergence in terms of persistency and diversity for national convergence R&D strategy but also presented dynamic convergence index and analysis methods that can be practically applied for directing public R&D programs.
