초록보기

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the trade structure and competitiveness of Korea's information technology (IT) industry in comparison to that of ASEAN, particularly in terms of quality.
Research design, data, and methodology: Indices such as trade specialization index (TSI), Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), and Market Comparative Advantage (MCA) are used. Further, an Intra-industry Trade (IIT) index is used to analyze qualitative changes in horizontal intra-industry trade and Intra-industry trade of high- and low-quality goods.
Results: An analysis of export competitiveness through RSCA analysis showed that the Korean IT industry's competitiveness against ASEAN is strong, and its competitiveness is gradually improving. By classification, broadcasting devices, parts, communication devices, and information devices were found to be highly competitive. In addition, the competitiveness of broadcasting, parts and communication devices in 2018 compared to 2010 has been shown to be more competitive and improved, but information devices have weakened further. According to the IIT analysis, more than 60% of Korea and ASEAN were made up of trade in the industry, and as of 2018, the ASEAN Korean IT industry had improved qualitative competitiveness compared to 2010. As a result of IIT analysis based on trade volume, HIIT has decreased and VIIT has increased, indicating that trade within horizontal industries is shifting from vertical to vertical industries. The analysis of IIT based on the number of items showed that HIIT is increasing and VIIT is decreasing, unlike the analysis of trade volume. However, as VIITL is decreasing and VIITH is increasing, the qualitative competitiveness of ASEAN Korea IT has improved.
Implications: This study has academic and political implications, as it analyzes changes in Korea's IT trade competitiveness. However, it is somewhat limited as factors determining qualitative aspects has not been considered.

Purpose: This study intends to analyze ESG management cases of companies in two countries in a situation where ESG management has a time lag and Korean and Japanese companies are introducing it as an inevitable management rule. In other words, through case analysis of ESG management of Korean and Japanese companies, we intend to provide meaningful implications to companies in both countries by deriving commonalities and differences between them.
Research design, data, and methodology: As a case study, this study analyzed representative ESG management companies in Korea and Japan. The ESG management of Japan's companies Konica Minolta and Kao, and the ESG management of Korea's BYN Black Yak and financial companies were analyzed. Although the industries are different, many implications can be obtained from the ESG management cases of the two countries.
Results: First, consensus on ESG management was spreading among both Korean and Japanese companies. Second, both Korean and Japanese companies showed a high percentage of ESG management focusing on the environment. The number of Japanese companies publishing and publicizing reports that integrate financial and non-financial information has been shown to continue to increase.
Implications: Efforts are needed to raise awareness of Korean companies' ESG management. It was found that Japanese companies are paying attention to management centered on S(society), such as the impact of the corona crisis, response to future market changes, employee health and safety and working style reform due to the COVID-19 outbreak that has spread since last year. In a situation where the corona crisis is prolonged and with Corona is implemented, Korean companies will have to prepare strategy for ESG management while continuously supplementing existing guidelines through identifying global trends and researching companies and investors.

Purpose: This study focuses on analyzing the changes in the import and export structure of Korea and Japan and their competitiveness in the global market, and also, focusing on analyzing changes in import and export structure and competitiveness by industry between Korea and Japan. In addition, this study examines changes in export competitiveness of Korea and Japan in the Chinese market and analyzes what characteristics there are.
Research design, data, and methodology: In this study, the analysis targets were classified into 13 industries excluding the service industry to measure trade competitiveness from 2000 to 2020, and then the Trade Specialization Index and the RSCA index were used. And the statistics in this analysis were used the database of the UN Comtrade.
Results: As a results of the analysis, the competitiveness of Korea and Japan in the global market through the TSI index has decreased generally, and the export competitiveness of Korea and Japan in the global market through the RSCA index was also low. In addition, Korea had low competitiveness in the Japan, while Japan had relatively high competitiveness in the Korean market. Finally, the overall export competitiveness of the Korea and Japan in China was low, but it was observed that the competitiveness/ the comparative disadvantage of their is improving.
Implications: First, in 2020, Korea had a much larger trade surplus than Japan, and exports of major export industries are on the rise, so it is expected that it will be able to maintain a trade surplus in the future. Second, Compared to Japan's competitiveness in Korea, Korea's competitiveness in Japan is low. And Korea's trade deficit with Japan has been reduced since 2010, but it is still large. This means that Korea's high dependence on Japan will not be resolved unless improved. Finally, both Korea and Japan are increasingly dependent on China as the size of imports and exports of Korea and Japan to China is expanding.

Purpose: This article reveals the reality that the lifetime employment system in Japan is separated from the illusion that it is an employment guarantee system.
Research design, data, and methodology: Japan's employment security system, the lifetime employment system, began to show signs of this during the Showa Depression, was established as a system during the reconstruction period and stabilized during the oil crisis. Although the lifetime employment system is known as a Japanese practice of stabilizing employment, a study has revealed that, like other countries, the number of people in the red continues to decrease.
Results: According to a survey of the Showadennko(Showa Electricity) during the oil crisis, even in the early 1980s, management maintained the goal of how many people were excluded from employment and the right to set standards for who was excluded from employment.
Implications: It is time to reconsider the previous claim that the employment adjustment method, which avoids appointment and dismissal, was established in the 1970s instead of giving up the right to negotiate.
