This study aimed to emphasize the need for spoken grammatical perspective in the semantic description of vocabulary elements related to language education. Currently, most grammar education subjects focus on written language, which limits the comprehensive description of the aspects of grammar elements or lexical elements that are revealed in real language life. Considering that language usage aspects will be emphasized more in the future from an educational perspective, it is important to reflect spoken grammatical perspectives in vocabulary techniques actively. Subsequently, in this paper, I analyzed the meaning and function of the degree adverb “neo-mu” from a spoken grammatical perspective based on the corpus study method to address these problems. The findings demonstrate that the realization and usage patterns of “neo-mu” were heterogeneous in accordance with written and spoken registers. Consequently, I will present semantic descriptions that could include both written and spoken registers.

This study aims to examine the diverse types of available online tools in synchronous Korean language classes and propose practical application methods. Research on synchronous Korean classes in Korean language education began at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and studies have demonstrated that active interactions are necessary for successful online classes. Applications such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Webex are used by default in online classes, but Google Docs, Google Forms, Padlet and Mentimeter can also be used to promote interaction. In this paper, these tools were utilized for small group conversations, simple response displays, data retrieval and sharing, memo boards, questionnaires/ statistics, mind maps, and quizzes. To demonstrate each tool's application in the Korean classes, a section of “Sejong Korean Conversation” was used as an example. Before the class, Zoom's annotation function or Padlet's memo function was used to enhance familiarity and bring attention to the teacher's presence. During the introduction phase, Mentimeter's survey, wordcloud, and mind-mapping function were used to generate interest in the topic and activate background knowledge. At the activity/task level, Google Docs was used for engaged discussion. In the final phase, Padlet and Google Survey were used to receive feedback about the lesson or perform a self-assessment.

This study aims to propose teaching and learning methods for developing verbal self-defense against verbal attacks. As prior studies, the verbal sensitivity scale of the verbal-Aikido and strategy of attack response were referenced. Additionally, the Satir mode coping stance in the “The Gentle Art of Verbal Self-defense” and the response to verbal attacks with premise were referenced. Based on the literature review, teaching courses for verbal self-defense were divided into monitoring, composure, concession, and coordination stages. An educational content system of verbal self-defense was established, and the teaching and learning methods were developed by applying backward design. Along with the transfer objective, six understandings and five essential questions were proposed. Additionally, learners' verbal self-defense performance tasks and a learning activity plan in the context of being verbally attacked were proposed.

This study aims to analyze the validity of achievement standards for developing basic academic ability evaluation items for listening and speaking. First, concepts and definitions related to basic academic ability were explored, basic academic ability related to listening and speaking was determined, and theoretical research for the evaluation direction was conducted. From the theoretical search, beyond reading and writing, it was necessary to include the oral communication skills mainly discussed in the research on basic academic ability. To evaluate spoken communication skills, the nature of listening and speaking skills must be evaluated, and questions that can evaluate mutual communication and empathy skills are required. Based on these theoretical discussions, the 2009, 2011, and 2015 revised South Korean language curricula were analyzed and indicated that the content structure and drafts of the achievement criteria for evaluating basic academic ability in the listening and speaking areas were composed of 1~4 levels. To analyze the validity of the achievement standards, four Delphi surveys and consultations were conducted with a 15-expert panel made up of five elementary school teachers, five secondary teachers, and five professors majoring in Korean language education. Accordingly, achievement standards were constructed. In the future, it is necessary to expand the discussion on the development of achievement standards to analyze student responses through evaluation items that implement achievement standards. To evaluate listening and speaking areas in context, it is necessary to develop computer-based and web-based evaluations.
