초록보기

Listening and speaking skills should be evaluated as part of basic skills. The evaluation framework was established based on nine components. Preliminary items were developed at four levels: third to fourth grade in elementary school (level 1), fifth to sixth grade in elementary school (level 2), first to third grade in middle school (level 3), and first grade in high school (level 4). Preliminary tests were conducted on a total of 212 students. As a result of the two-parameter item response model analysis, it was confirmed that 27.3% of the items at level 1, 31.3% at level 2, 34.8% at level 3, and 37.5% at level 4 did not meet the target difficulty and discrimination criteria. Thus, a modification was necessary. The future direction of the item modification for the main test was discussed.

초록보기

The purpose of this study was to examine how the speech education competency of Korean language trainee teachers can be improved. For this purpose, it inspected their needs by analyzing the questions they asked during the course “Theory of Speech Education” or "Theory of Communication Education" in the Korean language education department. First, the question analysis framework was developed with reference to the syllabus of the course “Theory of Speech Education” or “Theory of Communication Education”, the contents of major textbooks used in lectures, and previous researches on Pedagogical Content Knowledge components. The analysis of a total of 724 questions collected during the four trimesters of 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021 showed that the teachers raised more questions about the speech content knowledge itself than about speech education execution, and more convergent questions than diffused ones. The ratio of explanatory questions to applied questions differed by discourse type. The results of the analysis indicate the need to find ways to improve the teaching materials for speech education theory and to cultivate teachers' ability to design and deliver actual speech classes.

This study aims to investigate the impact of 'listening well' on 'peer relationship' and analyze the mediating effects of 'courtesy' and 'empathy' in the relationship between 'listening well' and 'peer relationship.' Through this, this study would obtain significant educational implications helpful for the improvement of communication education and peer relationship. The research subjects are 458 fifth and sixth grade elementary school students in Gyeongnam Province. As for the measuring tools, the scale for each variable was employed, which was developed through a preceding study. As for the measuring method, the self-evaluation method was applied. The collected data were analyzed, utilizing Excel and SPSS. The analysis methods used for drawing conclusions include exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and parametric regression analysis. The results of the tests of the seven hypotheses set in this study are as follows. First, listening well significantly affected courtesy (β=0.425, p<.001, H1 adopted). Second, listening well significantly affected empathy (β=0.596, p<.001, H2 adopted). Third, listening well significantly affected peer relationship (β=0.688, p<.001, H3 adopted). Fourth, courtesy significantly affected peer relationship (β=0.074, p<.05, H4 adopted). Fifth, empathy significantly affected peer relationship (β=0.334, p<.001, H5 adopted). Sixth, listening well significantly affected peer relationship mediated by courtesy (β=0.656, p<.001, H6 adopted). Seventh, listening well significantly affected peer relationship mediated by empathy (β=0.489, p<.001, H7 adopted). In addition, in the relationship between listening well and peer relationship, courtesy and empathy showed partial mediating effects. Hopefully, this study that investigated the 'impact of listening well on peer relationship mediated by courtesy and empathy' with elementary school students would help improve communication education and peer relationship.

초록보기

This study focused on the “audience,” which has been continuously emphasized in speech education, and developed a “public speech education program that experiences the “target audience” so that students can learn considering the audience in liberal arts lectures at university.
The concept and role of the “audience” approached in each theory from rhetoric to contemporary persuasive communication theories in the pre-theoretical exploration stage of program development were examined. Moreover, considering the specificity of the liberal arts lecture, an eight-step program was devised. When the program focuses on the procedure performed by the “speaker,” the speaker analyzes and interprets the characteristics of the audience, plans and executes the public speech in consideration of the characteristics, and conducts an evaluation from the “target audience” set by him/herself. It is structured so that the speaker can experience the series of receiving processes meaningfully.
The developed speech program was reviewed by three experts and applied to a liberal arts course at a university in Seoul in the first and second semesters of 2020. After the application of the program, the direction of the program revision was set based on the evaluation of the students and the review of external experts.
