The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a career exploration program using career portfolio for vocational high school students and suggest ideas for making a decision their career and occupation. The number of subjects in this study were 50 high school students in Busan metropolitan city among which 25 were assigned for the experimental group and 25 in the control group. The career exploration program utilizing career portfolio in this study was composed of 12 sessions utilizing the career portfolio. This program was based on Jeong et al.`s career development program(2005) for high school students and Choi`s career exploration program using internet(2005). The instruments of this study were self-efficacy scale and career identity scale. The average, standard deviation and the differences between the pre and post-test were calculated and processed by SPSS WIN 14.0. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows: First, the career exploration program using career portfolio was effective to enhance significantly the level of the self-efficacy of vocational high school students. Second, the career exploration program using career portfolio was also effective to enhance career identity.

The purpose of this study was to develop of learning strategy scale for college students. This study further classified several sub-areas and defined each concepts of learning strategy. Based upon the classification of each sub-areas, tentative test items were developed through the verification of validity by three professionals. A pilot study of the developed scale was administered to 239 college students. And the research collected major data from 1,012 college students. Data were analyzed to obtain item quality, reliability, and validity analysis. The results of this study were as follows. The scale for learning strategy was defined by eight factors and they were `self-management strategy`, `examination-readiness strategy`, `cognitive strategy`, `memorizing strategy`, `reporting strategy`, `resource-utilization strategy`, `self-regulated strategy`, `cooperative learning strategy`. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis proved the eight factors in the learning strategy. And criterion validity evidence was also obtained from a correlation analysis of the level of academic achievement.

For the utilization of seaweed (Capsosiphon fulvecense, algae) powder as an ingredient of bread, the quality of bread made with different concentration of seaweed powder was evaluated with physical and sensory properties. The powdered algae was shown to have crude protein content at 25.38%. The major minerals were identified with calcium with 8.38 g/kg, potassium with 9.5 g/kg, and magnesium with 5.6 g/kg, which comprised to 19.08% of total mineral content. Amount of essential amino acids content was estimated to be 835 mg/100 g. Content of essential fatty acid was found to be 27,25% of total fatty acids. For the preparation of bread added with seaweed powder, the addition ratio of seaweed was set at 3, 5 and 7% versus wheat flour with same ratio of other ingredients. L value, lightness of bread, was proportionally reduced with increse of seaweed powder. However, b value, yellowness, was increased with the addition of the seaweed powder. Adhesiveness, cohesiveness, and springiness of the bread were reduced with the addition of the seaweed powder, however, hardness of the bread was vice versa. Texture, flavor, color, and overall acceptance of the bread added seaweed powder were shown up significant differences among all tested groups (P<0.001), that is, more seaweed powder showed less favorable texture, flavor, color, and overall acceptance. Although the bread added with seaweed powder showed a less preference compared to control group, the bread with 3% of seaweed powder was favorable to other test groups, which might have a potential for the commercialization of functional breads using seaweeds.

The purpose of this study was to develop bibliotherapy program based upon literature units of Korean language textbook and to test it`s effect on self-esteem of middle school students. Sixty-nine female middle school students participated in this study. Thirty-four students were assigned to experimental group and thirty-five ones were assigned to control group. Subjects completed Self-Esteem Inventory. Data analyses were conducted using t-test and ANCOVA. The results of the analyses revealed that subjects of experimental group showed significantly higher scores on self-esteem than ones of control group. Based upon the above results, it is concluded that bibliotherapy program based upon literature units of Korean language textbook was effective in improving self-esteem of female middle school students.

With the increase of marine traffic capacity, marine accidents have also been increased for recent several years. Especially watch officer must maneuver not entering into the safety minimum approaching distances when two power-driven vessels are crossing. The author calculated the safety minimum approaching distances to provide a navigator with them based on zig-zag motion by experimental ship. The obtained results are summarized as follows: 1. The greatest distance is to be kept by the give way vessel to avoid collision when the crossing course angle is 90°. In this case the safety minimum approaching distance must be more than from 5 times to 11 times of her own length according to her size. 2. The watch officer of the give way vessel must always take an action to avoid collisions outside of the safety minimum approaching distance. 3. When the navigator used rudder to small angle than to large angle to avoid other vessel he must take action outside the sufficient safety minimum outside distances in advance. 4. Risk of collision in crossing situation is more greater in obtuse situation than in acute one.

It is necessary for navigator to understand sufficiently maneuverabilities based on experiences and the data which were gotten from several tests of the ship when he maneuver his vessel. By the way most navigators used to rely on his experiences or feelings only maneuvering ship. But when he encounters situations he did not experience before he may be in difficulties. So navigator must get both experiences and data based on experimental results. In this paper author performs several tests such as turning test, Zig-zag test and spiral test to provide informations of maneuverabilities for navigators. The obtained results are as follows: There occurs almost no difference in size of the turning circle by the changes of ship`s speeds. The scale of the turning circle was decreased exponentially when the rudder angle was increased. The maneuverabilities is better turning to starboard side than to port side. Maneuverabilities are more effective when the rudder is used to small angle than to large angle. As a result of spiral test course stability was comparatively seemed to be good.

In this study it will be discussed how to solve the problem of discomfort from rolling motion on the small fishing boats. Up to now, the equipments of reducing rolling system can be examined by various case, but difficult to apply small vessel by function, space and costly establishment. A way of improving the feeling of getting on a boat through the equipped sail at stern edge of bulwark top was researched and developed. The author has tested the sailing performance of the experimental skiff boat, from the signals obtained by the inclinometer in irregular waves and compared with the results got in sail on and off mode operation for 10 minutes duration at the conditions of stop and underway. These data has been analyzed in the application statistical methods. Eventually we summarize the analyzed results obtained from the vessel while stationary and underway for two cases, the vessel with a sail and the vessel without a sail. The field test was done in Jeju outer harbor. The ratio of the motion responses at resonance for the sail with and without cases indicate that under given conditions the motion was reduced by the efficiency of diminution is 4.726%, 2.792% in the stopping and 11.663%, 3.282% in the underway and mean rolling periods are 2.158, 2.142, 2.421, 2.412sec. and 1.968, 1.963, 2.089, 2.051sec. respectively. Consequently the efficiency of diminution was higher when the ship is underway and rolling periods got longer in the equipped sail.

The purpose of this study is to define areas and standards of kindergarten teacher`s competency through survey research and interview with early childhood education community-kindergarten teachers, vice principals, principals, administrators, parents, and professors in early childhood education. Raw data from 62 interviewees were grouped into 25 codes including `professional knowledge about young children`s developmental characteristics, and labeled for representative themes. Based on the result of interview analysis, two areas of `knowledge and skill` area (15 standards) and `attitude and grounding` area (20 standards) were classified, survey researched for appropriateness and relative importance of each standard. 704 members of early childhood education community were collected through stratified sampling. The research findings indicate that `observation and evaluation ability for young children` and `affection for young children` showed high appropriateness in `knowledge and skill area` and `attitude and grounding area`, respectively. In the relative importance analysis, `understanding of young children`s development`, `understanding of curriculum for young children`, and `understanding of young children`s behavioral problem and counseling` for knowledge and skill area, and `respect for young children`, `affection for young children`, responsibility`, `positive attitude` for attitude and grounding area showed high relative importance in order.

Recently, the logistics companies are constructing distribution market for logistics service in hinterland which is convenient for management and activity of logistics. Since the expansion of hinterland has physical constraints and related to the adjacent cities, it is vital to select value added types of logistics in the business. This study determines the priority of logistics business types in the hinterland of Busan`s new port using DHP, and also it suggests future types of logistics business by comparing result of study with the enterprises located in the hinterland. As a result, the inter-modal transport business has higher weight than the storage business. The distribution manufacturing business also has relatively high weight. Therefore, the inter-modal business and storage business need to keep a present status in hinterland, and the distribution manufacturing business should consolidate the role.

The purpose of this paper is to derive some policy implications on Korea`s international education based on the research of America`s experience of international education. The implications are summarized as follows. First, the main aim of Korea`s international education should be on the increase of mutual understanding among world citizens, and also on the improvement of Korea`s competitiveness. Since Korea is a small-open economy, she must find some policy methods to develop her economy continuously. Second, Korea should establish q private-run institution concentrated on the increase of mutual understanding of world citizens, like IIE in America. Third, Korea should also give Korea`s universities some incentives to improve its own internationalization as well as to develop educational curriculum for teachers in international education.
