Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the difficulties and needs of support for 'parenting' of adolescents in foster care who have left or are about to be discharged from child care facilities. Methods: The participants of this study were 5 facility workers as well as 7 adolescents who were about to be discharged from child care facilities nationwide. The interview questions were semi-structured questionnaires and in-depth interviews were conducted, and all interview contents were transcribed. Results: The thoughts and feelings of adolescents about their parents of origin, and the details of a healthy parent-child relationship were categorized, and then the details and methods necessary for the parenting support program were categorized. In the statement of adolescents and workers, the contents of the program need to be from basic attitudes such as image setting, self-understanding, self-care, and reflection to communication skills, good modeling, emotional control, sex education, career education, and economic education. Conclusions: The results were considered very meaningful in that they suggest it is possible to establish a preventive and effective support strategy for the development of youth in child care facilities.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify the effects that child externalization problems as perceived by group home workers and the perceived value of work have on turnover intention. Social welfare policies and action plans are then suggested based on the research results. Methods: An online survey was conducted targeting 100 children's group home workers in both Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and 200 individuals who completed the survey were selected for the purpose of this study. Then, hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed to verify the relationship between each variable. Results: The results demonstrated that the externalization problem of children as recognized by group home workers did not have a significant effect on turnover intention, while the perceived value of work did have a significant effect on turnover intention. Specifically, perceived value of work was shown to have a significant effect on work value recognition and value satisfaction, which are sub-variables of the perceived value of work. The results of the study verified that childcare workers had higher turnover intentions than the directors of group homes. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to provide support measures for improving the perceived value of work among group home work ers as a means of lowering turnover intention, and the introduction of relevant programs and services is also suggested. As for future studies, there is an apparent need to study the factors affecting turnover intention among childcare workers.

Objective: The present study aims to examine the effects of work-life balance on father attachment to their children and the mediating role of marital communication in the relation between the two. Methods: The participants were 260 fathers with child(ren) of age 5 or under and they responded to questionnaires on research variables. Data was analyzed using the Hayes (2021) Process macro version 4.0. Results: First, the results revealed significant positive correlations among work-life balance (work-family, work-leisure, work-personal life), marital communication, and father attachment. Second, a higher level of all three work-life balance variables directly predicted greater father attachment. Third, marital communication significantly mediated the relation between work-life balance and father attachment meaning that greater work-life balance predicted more positive couple communication, which in turn predicted more secure father attachment to young children. Conclusions: Father attachment is influenced by a larger social system such as the balance between work and life. The importance of the systematical approach when designing family-friendly policies to promote better quality of father involvement needs to be discussed.

Objectives: This study aims to examine the mediating role of children's self-regulation ability in the relationship between perceptions of parenting attitudes and elementary school children's time consumption of online videos. Methods: A survey was conducted among 283 fifth and sixth elementary school students from City A, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Participants completed self-report questionnaires designed to assess perceptions of parenting attitudes, self-regulation ability, and online video viewing time of children. Data were analyzed based on the mediating effects between variables using SPSS Process Macro model 4. Results: First, children's self-regulation ability mediated the relationship between fathers' parenting attitudes and children's video viewing time. However, fathers' overindulgent parenting was not correlated with children's self-regulation ability. Second, children's self-regulation ability acted as a mediator variable in the relationship between mothers' parenting attitudes and children's video viewing time. Conclusions: By examining the environmental and personal factors that can help children use the appropriate online video use time, basic data for preventing various problems and side effects regarding online video use time are provided.

Objective: This study examined whether difficulties in finding childcare due to COVID-19 were associated with depression, whether marital conflict mediated the association, and whether household poverty moderated the associations focusing on employed mothers raising young children. Methods: The study sample included data collected from 148 employed mothers raising young children aged 3 to 5. Regression, structural equation models, and the conditional indirect effect were used for the analyses.
Results: Difficulties in finding childcare due to COVID-19 were indirectly associated with depression through marital conflict, although the direct effect was not statistically significant. For mothers living in poverty, difficulties in finding childcare was associated with depression indirectly through increasing marital conflict. However, for non-poor mothers, although difficulties in finding childcare was associated with increased marital conflict, it did not have a significant effect on increasing depression. Conclusions: Our findings highlight the need to provide a more diverse and flexible childcare system for employed mothers to reduce marital conflict and depression in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Objective: This study was conducted with the purpose of examining the influence of family economic deterioration caused by COVID-19 on anxiety among adolescents in multicultural families as well as the mediating effect of daily stress. Methods: Data from the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey in 2020 were utilized, along with SPSS Process macro to analyze the direct and indirect influences of family economic deterioration caused by COVID-19 on anxiety. Results: First, the results show that family economic deterioration caused by COVID-19 positively and significantly influenced anxiety among adolescents in multicultural families. Next, adolescents' daily stress fully mediated the influence of family economic deterioration caused by COVID-19 on anxiety. Experiencing family economic deterioration increased levels of daily stress and, in turn, increased the likelihood of experiencing anxiety. Conclusion: Based on the results, this study discussed social welfare intervention strategies to protect and improve the mental health of adolescents in multicultural families in the midst of a disaster.

Objective: This study examined the relationship among fathers' childhood attachment to parents, marital communication, and involvement in child care. Specifically, this study investigated the mediating effect of marital communication in the relationship between fathers' childhood attachment to parents and involvement in child care. Methods: The participants were 303 fathers with infants and they responded to questionnaires on research variables. Data were analyzed using the PROCESS macro version 3.4. Results: First, fathers' childhood attachment to their mothers had a positive effect on involvement in child care when marital communication was not considered as a mediator. That is, fathers who had secure childhood attachment to their mothers were more involved in child care. Second, when marital communication was considered as a mediator, this direct effect was not significant and fathers' childhood attachment to their mothers had only an indirect effect on involvement in child care through marital communication. That is, fathers who had secure childhood attachment to their mothers communicated more efficiently with their spouses, which led to more involvement in child care. Conclusions: This study confirmed that fathers' positive relationships with their mothers and spouses are important in the context of the family for fathers' active involvement in child care.
