The purpose of this study is to inductively examine the research trends of Korean language education as a foreign language in South and North Korea. For this purpose, North Korean research was collected from three representative Korean language-related academic journals, and South Korean research was collected through keyword search. As a result, a total of 55 research articles were analyzed for research trends by period and subject. And it can be seen that research is being actively conducted in North Korea toward 2019. In South Korea, the number of studies has been steadily increasing as time goes by, but due to difficulties in data collection, research has not been conducted as actively as in North Korea. In the thematic analysis, most studies were conducted in the area of analyzing textbooks and examining the current status of textbooks in South Korea, and the research on 'error analysis' was not conducted due to difficulties in data collection. In North Korea, the most research was conducted in the field of 'contents of Korean language education', but there was no study on the analysis of textbooks. As such, this study is meaningful in that it can be used as a basic data for the integration of Korean language education after unification by identifying the gap between the two language educations by examining the study of Korean language education in a synchronic and diachronic.

The purpose of this study was to design a instruction of thesis genre education for foreign graduate students accounting for largest portion of academic writings. For the purpose, After reviewing major theories by Swales(1990) such as genre concept, moves and steps, genre analysis, and CaRS model and considering the curriculum of domestic graduate school curriculum, principles of instructional design were derived. In this process, acknowledging criticism that the major theories by Swales(1990) are merely applied in a guiding role in the pre-instructional stage the tasks were used to ensure that the major concepts by Swales(1990) are applied throughout the lecture. The tasks included genre analysis of theses by seniors, genre analysis of journal articles from high-rank academic journals, genre analysis of one's own theses, and discussion for Discovery Learning. These tasks were designed to help them to understand genre-specific features of specific academic writing such as rhetorical organization and lexico-grammatical features of thesis. It is hoped that active research on writing and education that satisfies the needs of foreign graduate students will help 'creating a gap of study' and improving the quality of texts.

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies advance, chatbots equipped with AI functionalities for different purposes are used in various fields. In response to this trend, educational institutions also strive to use AI chatbots in classroom settings for foreign language education. This study recognizes the need for developing AI chatbots for Korean language education in the near future, and it proposes a plan to develop AI chatbots for Korean education using chatbot builders. To begin with, upon the analysis of previous studies on the use of educational chatbots for foreign languages, the authors examined the characteristics and significance of chatbots. Then four exemplary chatbot builders that allow teachers without previous knowledge of coding to build chatbots were selected. The authors demonstrated in use cases how teachers can use the builders to create Korean educational chatbots, and used these measures to present their utilization plans. By suggesting different ways for teachers to easily manipulate the educational chatbots for use in class, the authors endeavored to expedite future research on chatbots. It is expected that this study will ultimately lay a foundation for further investigations on AI chatbots optimized for Korean education.

This study explains the meaning and usage of '-eoya hada/doeda' based on previous corpus analysis studies and various usage examples and presents grammar descriptions related to the tense expression of '-eoya hada/ doeda' in Korean language education. '-eoya hada' is an expression of the speaker's objective recognition of the necessity of a certain action or state, and '-eoya doeda' is an expression of the speaker's subjective recognition of the necessity of a certain action or state. Expressions related to the tense of '-eoya hada/doeda' are divided into 4 types according to the combination of '-eoss-'. '-eoya hada/doeda' is a present tense form that indicates that an action or state is necessary in the present or near future. '-eoya haessda/dwaessda', -eosseoya haessda/dwaessda' and '-eosseoya hada/doeda' are forms that indicate that an action or state was necessary in the past. The usage of the form depends on the intention of the speaker, and whether the proposition is realized is revealed through the context or by the semantic function of the ending combined after it. Korean language textbooks do not present the past forms of verbs adequately, and example sentences are few. As a result, learners tend to not use the past tense. This study systematically presented the form and usage of expressions related to the past tense of '-eoya hada/doeda' for each learner level.

In this study, the theory and practical application process of the problem of using digital literacy-based education in Korean language education for foreigners was examined. The value of digital literacy competency viewed in modern education was examined, and the direction of using digital literacy in Korean language education was considered. Subsequently, after presenting a model of Korean culture classes using digital literacy, it was used in actual undergraduate courses and Korean culture classes to conduct case studies. Through the overall class implementation process and results review, it can be expected that Korean language education using digital literacy can be a useful way for students to be educationally satisfied, and it suggests why education using digital literacy should be continuously developed with interest so that it can be used in Korean education with diversity and systemicity.

This study considers repetition a meaningful process in teacher-student interaction and analyzes the conversation between them in beginning level Korean class. Also, this study classifies the act of repetition into five types and analyzes the effect and function of each type. As a result of the study, the five types of repetition are 'repetition for emphasis', 'repetition for connection between presentation and practice', 'repetition for group response', 'repetition for understanding', and 'repetition for implying learner's error and inducing self-modification'. These acts provided evidence that the teacher makes the choice of utilizing the repetition strategy. The teacher's repetition is not just for emphasis or a meaningless act, but it is a strategy to strengthen the interaction with learners. Therefore, this study is significant in that it laid a strong foundation for repetition research in the Korean education field. Also, this study considers repetition more meaningful and active means of interaction in teaching Korean than the previous studies. I hope that teachers could recognize the types and functions of their repetition and actively utilize it based on this study.

This study is to examine the process and contents of how the Korean language education practicum courses were prepared and operated in the non-degree course of the Institute for Training Korean Language Instructors at Yonsei University in the non-face-to-face era using Zoom. Chapter 2 discussed an overview of Institute for Training Korean Language Instructors at Yonsei University and the contents including the structure of Korean language education practicum courses. Chapter 3 examines the stages of the online Korean language education practicum courses: pre-operation stage and operation stage, and instructional method for each stage. As a result, it is suggested that the entire courses of Korean language education practicum, including on-site class observations, could be conducted online non-face-to-face real time classes rather than offline classes.

This research focuses on dissertations and analyzes research trends in the fields of Korean linguistics, contrastive linguistics, Korean language education, and Korean language education as a foreign language. Based on the results of the study, the application direction of cognitive linguistics theory in the future of Korean language education as a foreign language research is proposed. First, a total of 193 dissertations were collected, and their analysis criteria were divided into four categories: annual, research theme, research object and research method. In order to ensure feasibility, the papers were analyzed according to the criteria. Finally, some suggestions are made for the future research direction of cognitive linguistics in the field of Korean language education as a foreign language. Through this study, it will be possible to have an overall perspective of the coordinates of cognitive linguistics in the field of Korean education as a foreign language in the future, and a qualitative leap in research will be enabled. In addition, the study of trends based on the four criteria in this paper will serve as a meaningful reference for graduate students who are planning their dissertations in Korean language education as a foreign language in the future.

This study examined the usage of Korean time expressions through a quantitative comparison of their use by Chinese-speaking learners and native speakers in a corpus. Because time is a crucial element of our lives, time metaphors are prevalent in everyday language and life and their mastery is important for students to improve their vocabulary. In this study, the corpus analysis collected time expressions that learners had not acquired and allowed the identification of native language interference and characteristics of textbooks as the cause of the errors. Based on the results of the analysis, the following issues and suggestions are presented. An explicit educational method using conceptual metaphors should be developed, and more diverse time representations should be presented in textbooks. Also, there is a need to create a contrastive education method to cater to the differences in time metaphors between Korean and Chinese.
