이 글은 석릉(石菱) 김창희(金昌熙, 1844~1890)의 청언소품집인 『담설(譚屑)』의 이본 중 하나인 『십담록(十談錄)』의 존재를 학계에 처음 소개하고, 그 의의를 밝히기 위한 논문이다.
1882년 임오군란(壬午軍亂) 이후 우리나라에 오장경(吳長慶, 1834~1884)이 지휘하는 청(淸)나라 군대가 주둔하게 되자, 조선 조정에서는 관례에 따라 문한(文翰)에 뛰어난 관원을 선발하여 영접관(迎接官)의 임무를 맡겼다. 이때 김창희가 선발되어 오장경과 그 휘하의 막료들을 상대하는 임무를 맡게 된바, 그 활약상은 지금 전하는 여러 필담 자료를 통해서 확인할 수 있다. 김창희는 그들과 시문으로 교유했으며, 그들은 김창희의 『담설』을 특히 높이 평가하여, 출판 경비를 마련하여 출판을 주선해 주었을 뿐만 아니라 서문을 지어 주고, 표지의 제첨(題籤)까지 써주었다. 이 책이 1883년 전사자(全史字)로 간행된 별행본(別行本) 『담설』이다. 또 김창희가 세상을 떠난 뒤인 1898년 아들인 김교헌(金敎獻)이 『석릉집(石菱集)』 12권 3책을 간행하였는데, 이 책에도 『담설』이 실려 있다.
이 논문에서 소개하는 『십담록』은 『강루초존(江樓鈔存)』이라는 석릉의 작품 선집에 수록된 것으로, 이번에 학계에 처음 소개하는 것이다. 그 의의는 다음 세 가지로 요약될 수 있다.
첫째, 별행본과 문집본 『담설』의 모본(母本)이라 할 수 있는 『현정십담(玄亭十譚)』의 체제와 내용을 확인할 수 있는바, 『현정십담』은 본래 10개의 주제로 분류되어 있었으며, 각 주제 아래에는 각각 20칙(則), 총 200칙으로 구성되어 있었다.
둘째, 별행본과 문집본에 없는 항목 총 31칙을 새로 찾을 수 있었다. 별행본과 문집본의 경우, 권상(卷上)에 68칙, 권하(卷下)에 56칙, 총 124칙이 수록되어 있으니, 거의 1/4 분량을 새로 발굴한 것이다.
셋째, 『십담록』에 실린 '담문(譚文)'은 『현정십담』에 실린 20칙을 하나도 빼지 않고 모두 수록하였다. 그만큼 스스로 중요하게 생각한 것인데, 그 20칙 중에서 별행본이나 문집본에 실리지 않는 것이 15칙이나 된다. 석릉은 특히 자신의 산문론에 자부심이 강했다. 『석릉집』에도 문론(文論)에 해당하는 글이 많고, 『회흔영(會欣穎)』이라는 고문(古文) 비평서를 따로 짓기도 하였다. 이번에 새로 찾은 내용은 그 동안 축적된 석릉의 산문론에 대한 성과를 뒷받침해 줄 수 있는 내용들이다.
부록으로 학계에 이바지하기 위해 『십담록』에서 채록한 항목들을 중심으로 '담설습유(譚屑拾遺)' 31칙을 정리하여 수록하였다.


This paper introduces the newly discovered version of Trifling Aphorisms (『譚屑』) written by Kim Chang-hui (金昌熙, 1844~1890), one of the major writers of the second half of nineteenth century in Chosun Dynasty and tries to collect the missing contents in already known versions through it. This new version is Selected Aphorisms In Ten Topics (『十談錄』), which is included in Selected Works of Belvedere on the River (『江樓鈔存』).
The significance of this thesis can be summarized in the following three points.
First, it is possible to check the system and contents of Aphorisms In Ten Topics From Pavilion Mystery Black (『玄亭十譚』) which can be said to be the origin of different versions. It was originally classified into ten themes, and each subject was composed of 20 clauses, a total of 200 clauses.
Second, a total of thirty one clauses that were not found in other editions were newly found. These are almost 1/4 of the volume in the other editions.
Third, the 'Discourse on the prose (譚文)' in Selected Aphorisms In Ten Topics contains all the twenty clauses in Aphorisms In Ten Topics From Pavilion Mystery Black without excluding any. He was particularly proud of his theory on writing. There are many articles that correspond to literary texts in his other works. The newly discovered contents this time can support the research results on Kim Chang-hui's prose theory that have been accumulated in the academic world.

일본 메이지 시기를 대표하는 가정소설 『호토토기스』는 한국과 중국에 공통적으로 번역된 이례적인 일본문학 작품으로서 독특한 위상을 차지한다. 이 논문은 조중환과 린수의 『불여귀』를 통해 서구적 부부애와 사랑에 대한 태도와 인식, 청일전쟁을 바라보는 시선이 어떻게 번역되었는지 살펴보고 각 텍스트의 특징을 고찰하였다. 조중환의 『불여귀』는 일본 원작을 저본으로 하여 가부장제의 굴레에 갇힌 여성의 비극적 운명을 충실하게 재현했다. 영역본 『나미코(Namiko)』를 중역(重譯)한 린수의 『불여귀』는 중국 독자에게 낯선 서구적 사랑과 새로운 부부애를 보여주었다. 조중환은 가정 내의 갈등과 여주인공의 불행에 초점을 맞추었으며, 린수는 소설의 역사적 배경인 청일전쟁에 대해 번역가로서의 목소리를 적극적으로 개입하였다.


Hototogis, a domestic novel representing the Meiji period, occupies a unique position as an exceptional work of Japanese literature commonly translated into Korea and China. This paper examines how the Western marital love and the Sino-Japanese War were translated and the characteristics of each text through Jo Jung-hwan and Lin Shu's Bulyeogwi. Jo Jung-hwan's Bulyeogwi faithfully reproduced the tragic fate of a woman trapped in the yoke of patriarchy based on Japanese original. Lin Shu showed an unfamiliar Western love and a new marital relationship unfamiliar to Chinese readers by translating the English version Namiko. Jo Jung-hwan focused on the conflict within the family and the misfortune of the female protagonist, while Lin Shu actively intervened as a translator in the Sino-Japanese War, the historical background of the novel.

이 글은 식민지 책시장의 연속성과 불연속성에 대한 세 번째 글이다. 식민지 책시장은 1930년대 중반 무렵에 또 한 차례의 변혁을 맞이했다. 당시에 제국 본토 출판기구는 식민지의 책시장을 점점 더 크게 잠식했고, 총력전체제의 가동에 따라 출판검열의 압박은 고조되었다. 용지 부족 사태와 3차 조선교육령에 따른 조선어 과목의 폐지 등도 심각한 문제였다. 이런 상황을 타개하기 위해 식민지 출판기구는 문학, 그중에서도 본격적인 근대문학에서 활로를 찾았다. 이 과정에서 근대문학이 지식문화 전반을 대변하는 문학중심주의가 형성되었다. 흔히 1930년대 후반을 식민지 책시장의 호황기로 이해하지만, 당시에 조선어책의 문학중심주의는 번영의 산물이 아니라 위축의 산물이었다.


This is the third article on the continuity and discontinuity of the colonial book market. The colonial book market underwent another transformation around the mid-1930s. At that time, the imperial mainland publishing organization eroded the colonial book market more and more, and the pressure of publishing censorship was heightened by the operation of the total war system. The shortage of paper and the abolition of the Korean language course in accordance with the 3rd Chosun Educational Act were also serious problems. To overcome this situation, the colonial publishing organizations found a way out in literature, especially in full-fledged modern literature. In this process, literary centrism was formed, in which modern literature represents the overall knowledge culture. The late 1930s is often understood as a booming period for the colonial book market, but at that time, the flourishing and literary-centrism of the Chosun language book was not a product of prosperity, but a product of contraction.

해방기 이광수 연구에서 『돌베개』 시기는 대체로 세상에서 한발 물러나 자연과 인생을 발견한 관조와 사색의 시기로 언급된다. 그러나 이 시기 이광수의 문필 활동에는 일상에 대한 관조와 사색은 물론, 인간 욕망의 어두운 심연을 응시하고 또 정치적 글쓰기에도 적극 관여하는 등 다양한 벡터의 힘이 작용하고 있었다. 이 글은 『돌베개』 시기 그토록 다양한 벡터의 글쓰기를 지탱한 구심력을 '돌베개'의 사상에서 찾는다. '돌베개'의 사상은 근본적으로 아버지의 집으로 돌아가는 길 찾기의 원망에 닿아 있었고, 좀 더 구체적으로는 한때 어긋났던 '민족'과 '헌신(사랑)'의 두 축을 중심으로 한 윤리-정치의 궤도를 바로잡는 일이기도 했다. 『돌베개』 시기 이광수가 도달한 민족주의적 윤리-정치의 이상이란 신민회 시절 이래 도산 및 김구와 공유해 온 신념의 재확인에 가까운 것이었다. 그러나 이러한 자신감은 실패한 도덕주의의 심연과 마주함으로써 그 자신과 온전히 대면할 기회를 유보한 대가로 얻은 불완전한 것으로, 이후의 현실 정치 속에서 이광수가 맞닥뜨리게 되는 정치-윤리적 곤경을 예고하고 있었다.


In Lee Kwang-su's study of the liberation period, the period of dolbegae is generally referred to as a period of contemplation and meditation, when nature and life were discovered by stepping back from the world. However, in Lee Kwang-su's literary activities during the period of dolbegae, various forces of vectors were at work, such as contemplation and meditation on daily life, as well as staring into the dark abyss of human desire and actively participating in political writing. This article finds the centripetal force that supported the writing of so many different vectors during this period in the idea of 'dolbegae'. The idea of the 'dolbegae' was fundamentally touched by the resentment of finding a way back to his father's house. More specifically, it was also a matter of correcting the once deviated trajectory of ethics-politics centered on the two axes of 'ethnicity ' and 'devotion (love) '. The ideal of nationalist ethics-politics that Lee Kwang-su reached during the period of dolbegae was close to the reaffirmation of the beliefs shared with Dosan and Kim Gu since the days of the Shinminhoe. But this confidence was imperfect, at the cost of withholding the opportunity to face himself fully by confronting the abyss of failed moralism. For this reason, it was foretelling the political-ethical predicament that Lee Kwang-su would face in the future real politics.

이 글은 2000년대 이후 의미 있는 연구 성과를 내지 못하고 있는 정한숙에 대한 관심의 제고와 개관을 담고 있다. 정한숙은 '전후 신세대 작가'로 자리매김하며, 손창섭, 선우휘, 장용학 등과 더불어 왕성한 작품 활동을 보여주었다. 소설로 한정해도, 그의 작품은 160여 편에 달한다. 하지만 이에 비해 턱없이 부족한 기존 연구는 개별론 차원에서뿐만 아니라 당대의 문학 지형을 조명할 인식의 빈곤을 초래할 수 있다는 점에서, 이 글은 몇 가지 문제를 중심으로 향후 연구를 위한 초석을 마련하고자 했다.
먼저 1장에서는 작품 연보의 문제를 되짚었다. 특히 한국전쟁의 와중에 발표된 초기작에 대한 기초적인 서지 점검과 보완이 필요하다는 점을 제시했다. 2장에서는 '전후 신세대 작가'라는 타이틀이 무색하게 이를 가시화할 개념틀이 없음을 문제 삼으면서, 그의 작품에 드러난 '삼등 인간'의 형상에 주목했다. '삼등 인간'은 손창섭의 '잉여 인간'을 반향하며, 식민과 해방 및 한국전쟁의 역사적 격변을 겪은 그 세대 특유의 감각이 빚어낸 병리적 인간상임을 2장은 잘 드러내 준다.
3장에서는 흔히 '예술가 소설'로 통용되는 「금당벽화」, 「백자 도공 최술」, 「금어」가 정한숙이 추구한 긍정적 인간상의 심미적 판본으로 기능하고 있음을 지적했다. 정한숙 논의의 대체적 경향과 달리 이 글은 전통적 예인의 형상에 내재한 '긍정의 윤리'가 소위 예술가 소설을 통어하고 있음을 비판적으로 재고함으로써 단절보다는 연속성의 관점에서 그의 작품세계에 접근할 가능성을 열어놓았다. 마지막 4장에서는 「이성계」를 위시해 「황진이」, 「계월향」, 「논개」, 「처용랑(處容郞)」, 「바다의 왕자」 등이 보여주는 역사소설의 일정한 성취에도 불구하고, 이에 대한 선행연구가 일천하다는 점을 환기하는 것으로 결론을 갈음하였다.


This paper aims at the “a study of Jeong Han-sook”, which has not produced meaningful research results since the 2000s. Jeong Han-suk is positioned as a “postwar new generation writers” and showed vigorous artistic activities along with Son Chang-seop, Seon Woo-hwi, and Jang Yong-hak. Even if it is limited to novels, his work counts over 160 pieces.
However, compared to other writers, existing research on Jeong Han-sook is in a state of stagnation. In order to overcome this, this paper reviewed the problem of a chronological list of the author's works in Chapter 1. In particular, while pointing out that the whereabouts of the early works published during the Korean War are still unclear, this paper took issue with the overlap of some works and the exclusion of others from the publication of selected writings.
In Chapter 2, this paper paid attention to the shape of the “a third-class person” revealed in his work, noting that the title of “postwar new generation writers” has no conceptual framework to visualize it. Chapter 2 shows that “a third-class person” was also a pathological image of human beings created by the unique sense of the generation that experienced the historical upheavals of colonization, liberation, and the Korean War in conjunction with Son Chang-seop's “surplus humans”.
In Chapter 3, this paper pointed out that “Geumdang Mural painting,” “Baekja Potter Choi Sul,” and “Geumeo,” which are often referred to as artist novels, function as aesthetic versions of the positive human image pursued by Jeong Han-sook. Contrary to the general tendency to discuss Jeong Han-sook's fictions, this paper critically recounts that the positive Moral human figure in the shape of a traditional artist governs the so-called artist novel, leaving open the possibility of rereading his work in terms of continuity rather than disconnection. In Chapter 4, the last chapter, this paper concludes by reminding us that a broader interest and discussion on the literary achievement and meaning of historical novels that make up his major work world is needed.

Ksenia Chizhova 저 Kinship Novels of Early Modern Korea: Between Genealogical Time and the Domestic Everyday는 조선후기 가문소설에 관한 본격 연구서로서 그 의의가 주목된다. 본고는 해당 저서가 제시하는 주요한 내적 논리의 타당성을 검토하는 한편, 이 연구서를 가문소설의 연구사의 지평 위에서 살핌으로써 앞으로의 가문소설 연구 방향에 관한 시사점을 얻고자 하였다. 우선적으로는 책의 구성을 개괄한 위에서, 저자가 이 장르를 명명하는 다양한 개념어 가운데 '가문소설'을 채택한 부분, 책의 제목으로 '친족 소설'을 내세운 부분 등을 검토하였다. 이에 친족 체계와의 연관성 하에 이 소설들을 이해하려는 의도가 책 전체에 걸쳐 일관된 논리를 형성하고 있다는 점은 분명한 장점이나, 논리의 강한 구심력으로 소설의 다채로운 면모가 충분히 부각되지 못한 부분에 관하여 문제를 제기하였다. 한편 가문소설이 한국인의 문화적 기억에서 망각되어가는 과정을 비판적으로 톺아보고, 가문소설에 관한 논의를 근대 문학과 연결지어 확장하려는 이 책의 시도는 주목할 필요가 있다고 보았다. 다만 이광수를 통해 논의를 마무리하는 책의 구성은 기왕의 단순한 문학사적 인식을 반복 강화할 수 있다는 점에서 숙고가 필요하며, 오히려 가문소설의 문화적 유산은 여성 가족사 소설을 통해 비판적으로 계승되었다고 이해하는 것이 가능하지 않은가 논의하였다. 마지막으로 는 이 책에서 가문소설의 감정 연구를 진전시킨 부분을 살피는 가운데, 인물의 감정을 친족 체계와의 관계로만 환원하기보다는 인물의 삶의 맥락 안에서 해석해볼 필요도 있다고 제안하였다. 나아가 저자가 제시한 '이중성', '공적 내면성' 등의 개념을 보다 확장적으로 적용할 가능성을 가늠하면서, 가문소설이 조선후기 감정론을 재구성하는 데 있어 풍부한 자료로서 활용될 수 있음을 제시하였다.


Kinship Novels of Early Modern Korea: Between Genealogical Time and the Domestic Everyday, written by Ksenia Chizhova, is a comprehensive study of lineage novels. This paper examines the book's implications and insights for the future study of lineage novels, situating the work within the field of lineage novel studies. After a brief description of the overall composition of the book, I critically review the author's adoption of “lineage novel” from among the various terms used to discuss this genre, as well as the use of the phrase “kinship novels” in the book's title. Although the author's intention to interpret lineage novels through their close relationship to the kinship structure of Joseon Korea is reflected in the book's clear and consistent logic, I argue that some complicated aspects of lineage novels and their highly nuanced characters are not sufficiently highlighted by this logic. Furthermore, this book concludes its discussion of lineage novels with the recollection of Yi Kwang-su, a symbolic writer of modern Korean literature. However, this juxtaposition can exert discursive power, repeatedly strengthening the simplistic understanding of the literary history of Korea; rather, it is possible to reconnect lineage novels with the so-called “family history novels” written by female writers, as well as contemporary novels centering on matrilineal kinship. Lastly, I highlight several fascinating points that this book makes about lineage novels' emotion studies, cautiously suggesting that it is necessary to interpret the feelings experienced by characters more delicately by considering each character's own life story. Pointing out the possibility of applying the author's enlightening concepts of “doubleness” and “public interiority” more broadly, I agree with the author's idea that lineage novels can be used as the richest information repository for reconsidering and reconstructing the discourse of emotions in Joseon Korean culture.

정창훈의 『한일관계의 '65년 체제'와 한국문학: 한일국교정상화를 둘러싼 국가적 서사의 구성과 균열』(소명출판, 2021)은 65년 체제론을 인식론적 틀로 삼아, 1960·70년대 한국문학의 주체들에게 1960년대 후반 이후의 냉전적 세계 질서가 미친 영향에 대해 고찰한 저술이다. 이 책은 저자의 박사학위논문을 단행본화한 것으로, 저자의 박사학위논문은 65년 체제의 성립이 1960 · 70년대 한국문학에 미친 영향을 종합적으로 검토한 최초의 박사학위논문이기도 하다.
65년 체제의 성립은 거시적으로는 미국이 주도하는 자유주의 진영 내 지역 질서의 재편을 불러온 사건이었다. 그러나 한국 사회 내부적으로 본다면, 65년 체제의 성립은 '제국 일본'에 대한 트라우마적 기억을 완전히 정리되지 못했던 사회 구성원들 역시 일본을 '적'이 아닌 '친구(우방)'로서 대할 것을 강요받게 된 사건이기도 했다. 이는 정부가 공식적으로 요구하는 '한일 협력 기조'와 불화하는 문학 주체들을 등장하게 했다. 이 글은 정창훈의 논저가 기대고 있는 문화냉전/냉전문화 담론에 대한 검토를 통해 이 책의 연구사적 위치를 확인하고, 이 책이 65년 체제 하 한국문학에 대한 연구로서 거둔 연구 성과와 의의를 평가하였다.


Jeong Changhoon's book, The historical issues of postwar Korea-Japan relations and Korean literature: a deconstructive interpretation of the national narrative around 1965 Korea-Japan agreement, published in 2021, examines the effects of Cold War international order on Korean literature in 1960s and 1970s, using the 1965 system theory as an epistemological framework. It is a book adaptation of the author's PhD dissertation, which was the first to thoroughly analyze how the 65-system affected Korean literature in the 1960s and 1970s.
The adoption of the 1965 system was a macro-event that resulted in a restructuring of the regional order within the liberal camp headed by the United States. However, the implementation of the 65-year system compelled Korean culture to see Japan as a “friend” not a “enemy”. It was a mishap as well. This caused literary themes to arise that were in opposition to the official government call for “Korea-Japan collaboration.” This essay is based on an analysis of the Cold War/Cold War cultural discourse from Jeong's book. This study examines Jeong's book's significances in the historiography of the Cultural Cold War in Korea, and evaluates its achievements in study of Korean literature under the 65-year system.

`Mun(文)` was very important term in premodern Korea. It symbolized the omnipresent order of the cosmos, and offered the basis for modern concepts such as `mun-myoung(文明; civilisation)` · `mun-hwa(文化; culture)`·`mun-hak(文學; literature)`. In the metamorphosis of `mun`, we can find out the formation of the concept `Korean literature(國文學)`.  `Mun-myoung` refers to the richness of resources and techniques, while `mun-hwa` values the intellectual enterprises. `Mun-hwa` asserted the dichotomy of the physical and the mental against pre-established power of `mun-myoung`, and the concept of `literature` appeared under the light of `mun-hwa` in 1910`s. The areas such as art, philosophy, religion are the artifacts of `mun-hwa`. However, `mun-hwa` cannot be realized as the universal concept; it works in a certain boundary, which is national or ethnical one in usual. That`s why the cultural study belongs to ethnology, and why `Korean literature` is a part of nation-making project.

This article aims at providing outline of lineage of cultural studies, its differences and trend in present Korean literature studies. Based on it, not only meaning and possibility of cultural studies, but also its limit can be understood.  Cultural studies is not simple criticism about present disciplinary system and paradigm. Also, it is not a methodology for only one discipline. It is a active academic movement for challenging against traditional discipline, and is a kind of popular and resistant academic practice. When such orientation of consciousness isn`t concretely preserved, cultural studies could not help changed into intellectual play, academic fashion and discourse of deception which justifies desertion of classics. Needless to say, haste judgement about cultural studies should be refrained because it is now in the moment of growth. But, it is important to recognize following points. First of all, radical desertion of classics and ideological nihilism, which insists on deconstraction of literature and exchange of literature with culture, should be thoroughly prevented. Also, based on fundamental reflection of Korean literature as a disciplinary system and its ideas, real cultural studies should be boldly practiced for enlargement of horizon and extension of Korean literature.

Literary canon generally means a system of literary works of art which are worthy of conservation and education in a society. That literary canon is at issue means in itself crisis in literature and literary education. Discussion on the canon is expression of belief which this crisis would be overcomed by that wisdom on the way of canon discussion. Discussion on the canon after 1990s would be three kind of categories; humanistic criticism of the canon, geneological criticism of the canon and discussion on the relation between the canon and emotion.  Humanistic criticism of the canon is a methodology which pays more attention to the other side of the text rather than the text itself in some points. Because deep significance of the text is in the relation of producing context of the text and the text itself. In this way the method of canon formation reveals its ideological background.  Geneological criticism of the canon is developed stage of humanistic criticism of the canon. That approach is concentrated on the canon formation, the effect of canon reading and in the end subject formation. Subject formed in this process is an accomodative subject. Then in order to form the critical subject it is needed to escape from the situation of subject formation in the process of previous canon reading in the classroom.  Discussion on the relation between the canon and emotion is related to the effect of canon upon the emotion formation.  Discussion on the canon is the effort to overcome the literary and humanisties crisis. In the process of the canon discussion literary education has identity by way of reflection on the knowledge problem.

Late Yeonmin, Lee Ga-won(李家源) was a herald to connect the ways of the traditional Korean Chinese Classics with modern methodology. His footprints, which mean his endeavor to find and develop the tradition of Korean literature with patriotism from experience of having spent his youth under Japanese Occupation, can be found in all his studies through a life. Seeing that 『Collection of Lee Ga-won』, published in September, 1986, was made up of 22 volumes, his writings were so great and brilliant. After that, he published 『Newly-Translated The History of Three Kingdoms』. And since 1993 he had written 『The History of Chosun Literature』. The first volume was published in February, 1995. And the second and the last was completed in July, 1997. 『The History of Chosun Literature』 has a totality of the history of Korean literature, including Korean Chinese literature and Korean Literature based on the methodology of traditional Korean Chinese literature. It is thought to give us many suggestions to study on the history of Korean literature. Its evaluation can be different respective of point of view whether it has a systematic structure or not. It may be a just evaluation that it has a feature of a collection more than his own writing. In 『The History of Chosun Chinese Literature』, he tried to make clear the development of oral literature, Korean literature and Korean Chinese classics literature in each period. But he did not show us the specific relations of them. With an intention to introduce its essence, this treatise aims at expounding the characteristics of the writing the part of Korean Chinese Literature in 『The History of Chosun Literature』 and making an assessment of it. And I would like to tell you that it has some aspects that indicate the direction of more studies directly and that need more studies unconsciously. Paying my respects to him again, I look back upon the memory of him with reverence and affection.

This treatise is planned for interdisciplinary study. From late 17th century till 19th century, the novel is flourishing and, on the scientific side, Shilhak leap into prominence in the Korean history. Also, on the economic side, money is circulated. With those phases, specially circulation of money, the market economy is forming in Korea, although which is primitive state. It seems that the novel, Shilhak and economic states, are interconnected. So, to understand two synchronical phases, novel and Shilhak, I continue my research linking with reviewing socio-economic matter and inspecting on monetary-economy`s effect on real humane life. Two major schools of Shilhak, Sungho(星湖) school and Yeonam(燕巖) school are differentiated by point of view about monetary economy. The latter positively recognized its importance, on the contrary the former refute its abuse. Also some novel of late Yi-dynasty(李朝) lively gives shape how it degenerate society in same age. The novel is called monetary age`s art, but, in Korea, it can`t be major artistic genre of the age. What is worse, in aesthetic view, it goes worse by commercialism, which is closely related with distorted development of monetary economy in that age. Today, our world is overwhelmed by market economy and money-ruled situation, so we would be agreed by that situation is the most dangerous crisis of civilization. Facing crisis, I retrospect primitive Korean monetary age. I hope it could be useful way to get over this money-ruled civilization.

This dissertation focuses on reviewing the attitude toward Chun assumed by Kim, Tag-young, a writer during the modern period of enlightenment. Chang-gang produced a total of apporoximately 260 chuns in over ten personal booklets and books, such as Seung-yang-gi-gu-jun(『崧陽耆舊傳』) and Koryo-Gye-se-cheung-shin-il-sa-jun(『高麗季世忠臣逸事傳』). Chang-gang`s attitude on chun was, as seen in the explanatory notes of shin-goryo-sa(『新高麗史』), based on the rigorous selection of the characters to be depicted in chuns, and the impartiality in extolment or rebuke for the chosen characters` virtues and vices--that is, on the fidelity to his own principle(節義). These characters selected through this criterion were usually those from Kyesung(開城), faithful retainers of Koryo who were agonizing over the fall of the dynasty and high proportion of middle class people, commoners, men of low birth and women was depicted in his chuns. These people are referred to as the `minorty(小數者)`, being off the mainstream of the society at the time. At the basis of chuns that depict these people of minority lies humanity that approves of their existence. The themes of Chang-gang`s chuns, despite the diversity in their materials, can be categorized into two major virtues : loyalty(忠) and fidelity(烈). The former to men and the latter to women are offered as discourse and brutality appears as a major aesthetic component. His work is a paradox that criticizes the custom of attaching to much value to family lineage and the family-lineage-centered social system of the time, through the manifestation of loyalty and fidelity, which tended to entice people into deaths.

This paper studies the feature of narrative structure and meaning of the 18th chuangi-novel in 「Jung-saeng-chon」. 「Jung-saeng-chon」 is the work which combined the feature of `the aiging chuangi novel(愛情類 傳奇小說)` and `the non-Aiging chuangi novel(非愛情類 傳奇小說)`. In the first half, the deficiency of the subject is satisfied with pursuiting the another world of the latter half. And un happy ending of the first half endies as a happy ending in the latter half.  In the side of love trouble, 「Jung-saeng-chon」 constitutes of the works which figure out the troubling stoy about `the Confucian man-the middle class woman`, with 「Sim-saeng-chon(沈生傳)」 「Bing-hu-ja-bang-wha-rok(憑虛子訪花錄)」. The 18th chuangi-novel was produced with the conscious growth of the middle class woman and the prevalence of the troubling stoy about `the Confucian man-the middle class woman` for background. Literary meaning of the 18th chuangi-novel will have to be studied continually.

What a series of the shamanistic myths having the woman as the protagonist are showing characteristically is the strained relationship between the inability, irresponsible god taking woman on trial and the able goddess enduring and overcoming the trial. Where is the origin of this particularity?  The origin of the woman figure that is enduring the suffering shown in CHUNGJUNGGAKSI & DORANGSUNBI(청정각시·도랑선비) is the Masculine Domination. This domination makes the body through not only the symbolic violence but the physical violence. The violence forms the convention and the violence itself becomes one of the conventions. This process of making the subjectivity by the violence is strengthened and reproduced through the educational acts of GUT, a kind of consonance box.  By the way, it matters whether that kind of social product is absolute or not. Isn`t there a way to build the feministic subjectivity? The answer to that question can be found in the immanent ability of the heroine. What we can find out from CHUNGJUNGGAKSI & DORANGSUNBI is the ability of paradox reversing the praise and the blame of gods. Through this paradoxical ability, the human act gets to transform the passivity into the activity. This transforming ability is always, already, the immanent ability in the heroine of shaman`s epic. The feministic subjectivity which resists the various `the education act` intended for a long stay of the Masculine Domination is made up by the active transformation through this paradox.

Poet Im Hwa had explored the return to and departure from native place and deepened the private meaning of topographical native place into collective and symbolic meaning, reflecting the historical conditions of past native place and present foreign place. Im Hwa, while thinking of modern experience and native place`s experience repetitively, sublated private meaning of native place to the national level and revealed Seoul-centrism as a result. His experience of the return to and the departure from his corporeal native place made him centripetal toward modern consciousness of Seoul. This consciousness converged into Seoul-centrism through north-orientedness experienced in Japan. It can be named as an effort to construct a new native place with reflections on its conditions in reality.
