본 논문은 텐센트 산하의 온라인 음악 플랫폼인 텐센트 뮤직 엔터테인먼트(腾讯音乐娱乐) 산하의 음악 스트리밍 앱인 QQ音乐, 酷狗音乐, 酷我音乐, 全民K歌의 구조와 특징을 살펴봄으로써 중국의 음악 시장에서 음악이 소비되는 방식과 그 의미를 살펴본다. 이를 위해 먼저 중국에서 음악 재생 미디어의 역사적 변천 과정을 고찰하였다. 개혁개방 이후 중국의 음악 소비는 늘 불법 저장장치를 중심으로 이루어져왔다. 불법 테이프, 불법 CD, 불법 MP3 다운로드 등으로 인해 중국의 소비자들은 음악에 돈을 지불하는 것에 익숙치 않았다. 음악 소비 방식이 플랫폼 기반으로 바뀌었지만, 여전히 중국 소비자들은 음악 스트리밍 앱에 지갑을 여는 것을 꺼려하고, 실제로 중국 음악 플랫폼의 유료 사용자 수는 다른 국가의 음악 플랫폼에 비해 현저히 낮은 수치를 보인다. 텐센트 음악 앱에서 수익의 절대 다수는 라이브 방송에서 발생한다. 라이브 방송에서 BJ에게 유저들이 제공하는 ‘팁’ 시스템이 가장 큰 수익 창출 방식이다. 중국은 서구와 달리 서비스를 제공 받았을 때 감사의 뜻으로 제공하는 팁 문화가 없음에도 불구하고, 원래 음악 앱의 기본 기능인 음원 서비스에 대해서는 지불을 꺼려하면서도 라이브 방송에서는 기꺼이 돈을 지불하는 심리는 어떻게 형성된 것일까? 이를 위해 각종 음악 앱들은 수많은 경쟁 시스템을 고안하였다. 플랫폼의 설계가 일종의 행동 양식을 이끌어내는 것이다.

Unlike the West, China does not have a tip culture to thank when it is provided, but how did the mentality of paying for music services, which are the basic functions of the original music app, but willing to pay on live broadcasts form? To this end, various music apps have devised numerous competitive systems. The design of the platform brings out a kind of behavior.
