대개 다른 사람은 고정관념이나 편견이 강하나 자신은 그렇지 않다고 생각하는 경향이 있다. 이는 고정관념과 편견에 대한 자기성찰이 제대로 이루어지지 않았기 때문인 것이다. 이 연구에서는 영화 <더 헌트>를 활용하여, 학생들이 자신의 고정관념과 편견을 인지하고 스스로 이를 감소시키도록 하기 위한 사고와 표현 교육 방안을 제시하였다. 고정관념과 편견으로 인한 사회적 문제들에 대해 흔히 자신과는 무관한 일로생각하므로 학생들이 자신의 고정관념과 편견 지수를 구체적으로 성찰할 수 있도록 사전 설문조사 내용을 작성하여 실시하였다. 수업 활동으로는 ‘영화감상, 영화 내용과 유관한 토의 주제 작성⋅제출, 조별 토의-발표-질의응답’을 단계적으로 진행한 뒤,사후 설문조사를 실시하고 그 결과를 분석하였다. 설문은 응답자의 고정관념과 편견 지수를 확인하고 사건 처리 절차에 대한 인지 여부를 파악하며, 마녀사냥에 대한 응답자의 태도를 확인하는 내용으로 구성하였다. 사후 설문조사의 분석 결과, 학생들에게 고정관념과 편견 지수가 낮아지는 변화가 나타났고, 사건 처리 절차를 확실히 인지하는 생각의 변화가 있었으며, 마녀사냥에 대한 태도가 크게 변화된 것으로 확인되었다. 고정관념과 편견 감소를 위한 이 연구를 통해, 학생들이 사회⋅문화적으로개선될 수 있는 여러 현상을 직시함으로써 자신을 돌아보고, 개인의 고정관념과편견이 마녀사냥으로 이어질 수 있음을 깊이 성찰하는 계기가 되었음을 알 수있었다.

Most people tend to think that others are stereotyped or prejudiced, but not themselves. This is because introspection of stereotypes and prejudices has not been properly conducted. In this study, using the movie The Hunt, we suggested ways to educate thinking and expression to make students recognize their stereotypes and prejudices and reduce them on their own. First, a survey was conducted to make the students self-examine specifically their own stereotypes and prejudices in an index. After then, the students watched the movie and submitted the topics that they had conceived about it in the class. Lastly, the post-survey was done after they discussing with their classmates based on a team, sharing the contents of the discussion to the entire class, and asking and answering the questions about them. The questionnaires were related to confirming the degree of a respondent’s prejudice and stereotype, how much the respondent recognizes the process of dealing with an incident and the attitude towards a witch-hunt. According to the results of the post-survey, it turned out that the students’ stereotypes and prejudices decreased and there was a change in the awareness of the process of handling an incident, and especially in the thought about witch-hunt. It is concluded that the education of reducing stereotypes and prejudices using the film, “The Hunt” made the students reflect on themselves and perceive that individual stereotype and prejudice can cause witch-hunt by facing that many socio-cultural issues can be solved by getting rid of bias.
