미디어의 내용으로서의 콘텐츠는 다양한 형태로 관광을 유발한다. 한편, 최근 콘텐츠와 관련한 관광에서, 만화나 애니메이션, 게임에 등장하는 인물의 의상을 만들고, 입고, 즐기는 행위인 코스프레와 이와 관련한 이벤트에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이 글의 목적은, 콘텐츠 관광에서 코스프레의 의의와 지역발전 수단으로서의 역할에 대해 밝히는 것이다. 구체적으로, 먼저 이론적 배경과 선행연구의 정리로서 콘텐츠와 콘텐츠 관광, 코스프레의 개념에 대해 논했다. 이를 바탕으로 콘텐츠 관광과 코스프레, 지역발전의 관계에 대해 고찰한 뒤, 코스프레가 지역발전에 미치는 영향에 대해 경제적인 이익, 취미 집단의 문화 공간 형성, 지역의 활기 조성, 지역(국가) 이미지 제고, 사회활동으로서의 기여로 분류했다. 이어서 구체적인 사례 조사로, 코스프레를 전부 또는 일부 구성에 포함하고 있는 한국(서울), 일본(홋카이도, 나고야, 도쿄), 튀니지(튀니스)의 팝 컬쳐 이벤트에 대한 참여관찰을 통해, 각각의 항목에 대해 검증했다.

As the subjects of the media, “contents” helps to induce tourism in a variety of forms. On the other hand, cosplay that make, wear and enjoy costumes of characters of the contents such as comics, animation or game, and related events are increasing in the tourism related to contents. This article examines significance and role of cosplay in contents tourism, especially as a means of regional development. Specifically, first, this article review and discuss the notions of contents, contents tourism, and cosplay as a theoretical background. Subsequently, considers the relationship between contents tourism, cosplay, and regional development based on this review. After that classifies the impact of the cosplay on regional development as, economic benefits, forming a cultural space of hobby groups, providing liveliness to the local community, contributing the promote local(country) image, and social activities. Based on above, this article analyzes pop culture related events which include cosplay in whole or in part, through the participant observation of events in the Republic of Korea (Seoul), Japan (Hokkaido, Tokyo, Nagoya), and Tunisia (Tunis).
