공간 그래픽 디자인은 일상적인 공간에 지역의 역사, 문화, 아이덴티티를 전달하며, 상징적으로 표현된 기호 이미지와메시지로 의사전달을 유도한다. 서로 다른 언어권에 속해 있는 사람들이라 할지라도 그림 언어가 이미지와 닮은 도상을지니고 있기 때문에 별도로 약속된 기표를 설정할 필요가 없음에 기인한다. 공간의 정보를 전달하는 매개체로 효율적인방법은 평면 위에 시각 기호로 표현된 지도이다. 지도는 단순한 기록매체가 아닌 사람과 장소 또는 시간 사이의 커뮤니케이션 수단이다. 본 연구는 지역문화를 부각시킨 차별화 된 브랜드 아이덴티티를 형성하기 위해 브랜드 커피전문점 ‘카페베네’의 경복궁점을 연구대상으로 선정하여, 공간 그래픽에시각적 맵핑을 활용한 개선 방안을 제안하는데 목적을 둔다.
카페베네 경복궁점은 관광명소라는 지역적 특색을 부각시킨동양적 빈티지를 컨셉으로 도출하였다. 개선 방안으로는 첫째, 정보전달의 목적을 가진 지도의 시각적 맵핑, 둘째, 지리적 형태의 메타포를 담은 맵핑 형태의 안을 제시하였다. 시각적 맵핑을 활용한 실내공간그래픽 개발은 해당 지역의역사와 문화를 근본으로 하며, 타 지역과는 확연하게 구분되는 독자성을 가지므로 경쟁력을 갖춘 실내 공간 그래픽 개발에 유용한 영향을 주기를 기대한다.
Space graphic design delivers history, culture, identity of a region to a normal space and brings to the communication by symbolic images represented symbolically and messages. The effective way to deliver the information of space as a medium is a map expressed by a visual symbol on a flat surface. A map is not a simple recording media but a means of communication among people and place or time. The purpose of this study is to propose improvement plan using visual mapping to a space graphic by selecting the subject of study for ‘Caffe Bene’ gyeongbok palace branch, brand coffee shop to form a differentiated brand identity drawn attention to local culture. ‘Caffe Bene’, gyeongbok palace branch was derived a concept with oriental vintage that highlights the regional characteristics called tourist attractions. Meanwhile, improvement plans were suggested as follows; First, visual mapping of map with the purpose of information transmission, second, abstract form of mapping containing geographical form of metaphor. An interior space graphic development is to be based on the history and culture of the areas and has the uniqueness and clearly differentiated identities from other regions. Therefore, I am looking forward to giving a valuable influence on the development of competitive interior space graphic. Even though those who belonged to different sprachraum, there is no need to set an a separate symbol because picture language has the image resembling map images.
