본 연구는 여성의 신체운동으로서 필라테스 운동의 효과를 구명(究明)하기 위하여 서울시에 거주하고 있는 23명의 여성들을 대상으로 체지방률(%fat), 제지방량(LBM), 신체질량지수(BMI), 근육량 및 복부지방률을 측정하였다. 이들은 사전검사 후 필라테스 운동 수업에 참가하였으며 사전검사와 같은 방법으로 사후 검사를 실시하였다. 통계분석은 필라테스 프로그램의 실시 전, 후의 여성들의 체지방의 차이를 검증하기 위하여 종속 t-test(paired t-test)를 실시하였다. 유의 수준은 p<.05로 설정하였다. 그 통계 분석결과는 다음과 같다,체지방률에서는 t=4.11, p<.001, 복부지방률에서는 t=4.477, p<.001로, 제지방량에서는 t=-2.534, p=.019로 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났다.
