The digestibilities of nutrients in a diet containing 50% ground alfalfa hay, 35% ground com, 10% perilla oil meal, 4.5% wheat bran, and 0.5% salt by free female wild Korean mountain haves and five female rabbits were compared to examine species differences. Average body weight of haves was 1.7 ㎏ and that of rabbits was 4.0 ㎏. Daily nutrient intakes by haves were lower than by rabbits. However, dry matter and nutrient intakes by body weight were higher for haves than for rabbits (P$lt;.05). The digestibility of dry matter by haves (63.0%) was similar to that by rabbits (64.1 %). The digestibilities of protein and ether extract by haves (58.6% and 83.4%) tended to be lower than those by rabbits (60.9% and 87.9%). However, the digestibilities of fiber and nitrogen free extract by haves (36.2% and 50.6%) tended to be higher than those by rabbits (33.5% and 48.4%).
