The objective of this paper is to develop a computer model which can be used in diagnosing hog farming, in determining the optimum production strategies. and in adjusting the managerial policies confronting the drastic changes in circumstances which affect producer`s income. The computer model, producing information on many aspects by simulating hog production system, helps the swine producing farmers select an optimum policy, plan their business, control and review those plans. The results from the computer model indicate the extensive role of management in affecting profitability and cost of swine producing operations. The simulating technique developed in this study may be applicable in appraising and planning the hog producing operation in Korea. The computer model used in the study provides farmers an easy accessability to computer program.
