A result of factorial analysis, indicating the location movement in the Japan dairy, was obtained. 1. Dairy cattle has increased at the high level as compared to the entire nation in Kyushu, Shikoku and Chugoku after world war II. In Hokkaido, particularly, it has considerably increased since the price policy of processed milk was carried into effect in 1966, this area being the largest dairy location in Japan. Although the cattle raising increased above the national level by 1966 it has decreased below the nation afterward and did not reach the national level of feeding. 2. With the size of the cattle feeding Hokkaido has kept first place since world war II while Tokai and Kyushu have been below the national level. 3. According to normative analysis the incentive of size extention is found in Hokkaido and Tofuken. The incentive degree is higher in Tofuken than in Hokkaido. Such a consequence results from the factors in which the production of coarse fodder is not high and labor productivity of dairy is low, and from the favorable opportunities of size job. 4. Dairy location depends mainly on the area location condition is easily subject to economic so that selected extension in prosperous section may occur. Management structure and price policy also influence the dairy location.
