The variation of cattle price of one market-day was investigated in connection with dealing time, season and year, etc in Chuncheon cattle market. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The cattle price variation of one market day was that the price of closing session was lower than that of the opening session and even the price of peak time session was also lower than that of opening lesion. 2. The seasonal variation of cattle price was that adult cow was most highly priced in April and May, the season of cultivation, but even towards the end of the year when the cultivation season ends and beef is in great demand(Oct. Nov. Dec.). It showed a tendency of comparatively high price under the influence of bull price. The peak of bull price was marked at the end of the year of meat demanding season(Nov. Dec.), but bull price also showed a tendency of comparatively high price in the season of cultivation under the influence of cow price. Both cow and bull prices were almost equal during the period of July to September. The lowest price of cattle was observed in January and February. In March and June bulls were cheaper than cows, yet in August cows were cheaper in contrast. In September both bull and cow prices were cheaper than their yearly average prices. 3. Cattle price was rapidly rising up every year from 1963 to 1969, and cattle price index of the that period showed about 230%, while wholesale price index stowed only 134% during the four years from 1965 to 1969. The fact that cattle price riled rapidly in comparison with general price index might be attributed to the sudden increase of demand for beef outpacing the slow supply in addition to the shortage of farm cattle for tillage. The little sag of cattle price in 1969 might be due to the decrease in demand for cow caused by the prohibition ordinance of female cattle slaughtering and the government control of beef price.
