Abstract

The mean retention time of digesta in the whole gut of the calf fed diets containing 0 to 45% ground roughage was 22 hours as estimated by a soluble marker(Cr^(51) E. D. T. A.). There were no significant differences among treatments. There was a significant negative relationship between feed intake and mean retention time in the whole gut.
