A simple feeding trial was carried out for 8 weeks with 270 male Hamphorn chicks to compare the effect of substitution of domestic fish meal, feather meal and blood meal for Peruvian fish meal. The proportion of foreign fish meal in control group was 12 percent of the total diet and domestic fish meal content in treatments was 4.5, 7.4 and 10.3 percent which was equivalent to 30, 50 and 70 percent of foreign fish meal protein respectively. The results obtained are as follows: 1. In feed consumption, domestic fish meal group was superior to the other groups, but there was no significant difference. 2. There was a considerable difference in total body weight gain for eight weeks. The body weight gain of chicks fed 50, 70 percent of domestic fish meal protein and feather meal group was significantly (P$lt;0.01) higher than 30 percent domestic fish meal, blood meal and control group. 3. It appeared that the feed efficiency of 50 percent domestic fish meal group and feather meal group was better than other groups (P$lt;0.05). 4. Feather meal group required the least amount of feed cost per kilogram weight gain. It was also found that the 50 percent domestic fish meal group was superior to blood meal group.
