This study was conducted to find out better indications for selecting chickens and to obtain information concerning price determination for the broiler chickens which are now produced and sold in Seoul city. The experiment was started from April 23 to July 2 in 1969, and 170 broiler baby chicks used in this study were grouped as follows. Group T₁ : Broiler Commercial Chick (SS line) ♀ 17. ♂ 17 Group T₂ : NewHampshire ♂ × Leghorm ♀ (D line) ♂ 34 Group T₃ : Broiler Parent Stock ♂ × Leghorn ♀ (Y line) ♀ 17. ♂ 17 Group T₄ : White Cornish ♂ × New Hampshire ♀(D line) ♀ 17. ♂ 17 Group T_5: White Cornish ♂ × White Plymouth Rock♀(D line) ♀ 17. ♂ 17 The results obtained from this study were as follows. 1. Gain of Body Weight : Groups T₁, T₃, T₄, T_5 showed that the rate of body weight gain was increased until they reach age of 9 weeks old, and at 10th week, it was decreased remarkably. But group T₂ was highest in the rate of body weight gain at 10th week as is shown in following table. Mean and SD of Body Weight $lt;표생략$gt; This table indicates that the mean value of T₁ is the highest among 5 groups and that of T_5 is higher than others. 2. Feed Conversion Rate: The mean value of the feed conversion rate for group T₁ is 2.29, T₂ 2.75, T_8 2.63, T₄ 2.51, and T_5 2.49, when chicks were fed for 9 weeks. The result indicates that feed conversion rate for group T₁ was better thaw other groups. When they were fed for 10 weeks. feed conversion rate for all groups except T₂ considerably drop down. 3. Profitability: The profitable index base. on the deduction of the price of the baby chicks and feed stuff from total income for T₁ to be 100 and that of T₂, T₃, T₄ and T_5 was 63.7, 75.4, 84.5 and 103.2 respectively. It appears that Group T_5 showed highest profitability.
