To study the expression regulatory mechanism of Light-induced gene of rice, cDNA clone for the light harvesting chlorophyll a/b binding protein (Cab) have been isolated. A cDNA library was constructed with mRNA isolated from the leaves of rice seedling grown in the light. A cDNA clone for light response gene was isolated by differiential screening with radio-labeled cDNA probe. Southern blot analysis demonstrated that the clone, λAlA, was 472 bp long. The clone encodes the 3` region of the Cab. Nucleotide sequencing of the clone reveals that the clone encodes 320 by of coding region and 152 nucleotides of 3` non-coding sequences.
