연구목적: 이 연구는 C대학 사례를 중심으로 장애 신입생의 대학생활 경험을 심층적으로 살펴보고, 이들이 대학이라는 새로운 환경 속에서 어떠한 어려움과 변화를 경험하는지 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법: 연구참여자는 2024학년도 C대학에 입학한 장애 신입생 6명과 그 학부모 3명(총 9명)으로, 이들에 대하여 2025년 1월부터 2월까지 개별 면접을 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법을 활용하여 분석하였으며, 참여자들의 구체적 진술을 바탕으로 공통된 의미 단위를 도출하고 이를 통합하여 경험의 본질적 구조를 밝히고자 하였다. 연구결과: 면접 자료를 분석한 결과 총 594개의 의미단위, 61개의 하위범주, 18개의 범주가 도출되었고, 이는 ‘한계로 인한 걱정과 가능성에 대한 기대를 안고 입학함’, ‘신입생이자 장애인이라는 두 겹의 어려움을 마주함’, ‘곳곳에 존재하는 장벽을 경험함’, ‘나를 다독이며 주변과 함께 적응해 감’, ‘장애로 인해 좁혀졌던 삶의 영역이 점차 넓어짐’, ‘이제는 한계보다 가능성에 마음을 열게 됨’의 6개 주제로 구조화되었다. 고찰: 연구결과를 토대로 장애 신입생의 대학생활에 대한 함의와 시사점을 논의하였으며, 장애인의 대학생활 지원 방향을 모색하는 데 기여할 수 있는 실천적·정책적 기초 자료를 제시하고자 하였다.

The objective of the present study is to undertake a comprehensive examination of the college life experiences of first-year students with disabilities, concentrating on the case of C University, with a view to ascertaining the difficulties and changes they encounter within the novel university environment. To this end, nine participants were selected for individual interviews, six of whom are students with disabilities enrolled at University C in 2024, along with three of their parents. The data were collected from January to February in 2025 and analysed using Giorgi’s phenomenological research method, and the results were organized into 594 meaning units, 61 subcategories, and 18 categories. These were then structured into six overarching themes: ‘Enrolling with Concerns About Limitations and Expectations for Possibilities’, ‘Facing the Dual Difficulty of Being Both a Freshman and a Person with Disabilities’, ‘Experiencing Barriers Present Everywhere’, ‘Comforting Oneself and Adapting Together with Others’, ‘Gradual Expansion of Life Scope Narrowed by Disability’, and ‘Opening the Heart to Possibilities Rather Than Limitations’. The discussion was grounded in the research findings, from which implications and insights regarding the adaptation of new students with disabilities to university life were drawn.
