정확한 암보는 피아노 연주의 필수 요소이며, 안정적인 연주를 위한 중요한 토대이다. 본 연구는 암보에 대한 정의, 역사, 암보의 단계, 암보의 유형, 암보 연습 방법, 암보에 영향을 미치는 요인 등에 대해 이론적으로 정립하고, 이론적 배경을 근거로 개발된 설문 문항을 통해 피아니스트 125명의 암보에 대한 연습전략과 인식을 조사연구 하였다. 연구 결과 피아니스트들은 암보가 부담스럽지만, 꼭 필요한 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 피아노 암보에 사용되는 4개의 기억 유형, 운동기억, 시각 기억, 청각 기억, 분석 기억을 중심으로 조사한 결과, 운동기억은 반복연습에 의해 형성되며 무대에서의 안정감을 제공해 주는 것으로 조사되었다. 시각 기억은 악보의 음형 진행및 음악 기호의 기억을 돕고, 도약 연주에서 건반의 위치 파악하는데 활용되었다. 청각 기억에 대한 선호도는 높았으며, 피아노 없이 내청을 활용한 암보 전략을 사용한 것으로 조사되었다. 분석 기억은 운동, 시각, 청각 등 감각 기억에서 부족한 부분을 인지적으로 보완하는 역할을 하였다. 연구 설문 응답자들은 운동, 청각, 분석, 시각기억의 순으로 4가지 기억 유형을 활용하고 있었다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 암보의 접근방식, 문제점, 해결 방안 등에 대한 이론적 방향이 제시되고, 피아니스트의 암보 능력 향상 및 학생들의 암보 지도에도 도움을 줄 수 있기를 바란다.

Accurate memorization is an essential element of piano performance and serves as an important foundation for achieving stable performance. This study theoretically examines the definition and history of memorization, stages and types of memorization, memorization practice methods, and factors influencing memorization. Based on this theoretical framework, a questionnaire was developed and administered to 125 pianists to investigate their practice strategies and perceptions regarding memorization. The results indicated that pianists perceived memorization as burdensome yet indispensable for piano performance. Focusing on four types of memory used in piano memorization-motor memory, visual memory, auditory memory, and analytical memory-the findings revealed that motor memory is primarily formed through repetitive practice and contributes to a sense of stability during performance. Visual memory was found to support the recall of pitch patterns and musical symbols and to assist in identifying keyboard positions during leaps. Auditory memory showed a high level of preference among pianists, who frequently employed memorization strategies based on inner hearing without the instrument. Analytical memory functioned as a cognitive complement to motor, visual, and auditory memory when limitations arose in sensory-based memory processes. Survey respondents reported utilizing the four memory types in the following order of frequency: motor memory, auditory memory, analytical memory, and visual memory. Based on these findings, this study presents theoretical directions for approaches to memorization, identifies potential challenges, and suggests possible solutions. It is hoped that the results of this study will contribute to enhancing pianists’ memorization abilities and provide useful guidance for teaching memorization to piano students.
