The purpose of this study is to derive methods for collecting, utilizing, and visualizing the vast data of new religions in Korea. To achieve this, the development of an Electronic Cultural Atlas―serving as a database, archive, and visualization tool―was adopted as the research methodology. The primary research material selected was the 「Haengnok (行錄)」section of the 『Jeongyeong (全經)』, which contains the biography of Kang Il-soon (Kang Jeungsan), the founder of the Jeungsan-based Korean new religions in Korea. Research was conducted to develop this material into an Electronic Cultural Atlas. Focusing on the geographic information contained within the 「Haengrok」, we analyzed it under the detailed themes of ‘Locations where events related to Kang Jeungsan occurred’, ‘Events that occurred at those locations’, and ‘Persons related to these events’. We selected MS Access as the tool to build a database from the analysis results. The fields necessary for building the database were defined as ‘Documentary Place Name’, ‘Current Estimated Address’, ‘Related Event and Source (Haengrok)’, ‘Related Individuals’, and ‘Remarks’. This database was then mapped onto Google Maps using a CSV file produced through pre-processing, resulting in an Electronic Cultural Atlas titled ‘Locations Related to Kang Jeungsan’. This atlas is not merely a simple map but provides diverse information and enables future connections with other new religions through the concept of ‘location’.
