본 연구는 21세기 경제통상 이슈에서 기대심리와 불확실성의 역할과 중요성을 파악하는 것을 목표로 한다. 기후변화, 지정학적 갈등, 보호무역, 인공지능기술 등 새로운 변화는 불확실성을 증대시키며 외부충격에 취약한 경제환경을 만들어냈으며, 이는 경제주체의 기대심리가 현실경제에 미치는 효과를 증폭시켰다. 이에 본 연구는 외부상황과 기대심리의 변화가 경제에 미치는 파급효과를 파악하기 위해 거시경제 모형에서 기대심리 이질성의 역할에 주목하였다. 특히, 제한된 합리성의 의미를 파악하여 외부환경의 변화에 따른 기대심리의 반응이 경제에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 분석은 외부충격의 불확실성으로 인플레이션과 산출량의 변동성과 지속성이 확대될 수 있음을 제시한다. 실제로 경제주체 간에 존재하는 예측의 상이함으로 경기변동과 국제무역에서 실질변수보다 명목변수와 기대심리의 파급효과가 확대될 수 있다. 이러한 점에 주목하여 본 연구는 최근 경제통상 환경의 변화에서 불확실성과 기대심리가 시사하는 바를 코로나19 사태, 트럼프 정부의 보호무역주의, 역세계화 현상을 대상으로 사례분석을 실시하였고, 정책 대응방안의 중요성을 고찰하였다.

This study examines the importance of expectations and uncertainty in economic and trade issues in the 21st century. Recent changes in the world economy, such as climate change, geopolitical conflicts, economic protectionism and artificial intelligence, have created an economy vulnerable to external shocks due to heightened uncertainty and amplified the impact on expectation formation processes. Consequently, this study considers the significance of belief heterogeneity in a baseline economic model to understand the economic ripple effect under bounded rationality. In particular, the investigation concentrates on the role of expectations in shaping the responses of macroeconomic variables under uncertainty. The analysis suggests that volatility can persist under external uncertainty shocks where belief heterogeneity could amplify the spillover effects of economic activities. This can exacerbate economic risks from nominal variables while the effects from real economic activities and international trade remain relatively less significant in business cycles. In this respect, this study highlights the importance of policy responses in an economy facing recent challenges such as COVID-19, Trump's protectionism, and deglobalization.
