본 연구는 어머니의 교사자질 인식의 기대와 실제 간 관계에서 유아교육공동체 인식이 매개적 역할을 하는지를 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 P시에 소재한 유아교육기관에 재원하고 있는 만 3, 4, 5세 자녀를 둔 어머니 194명을 대상으로 하여, ‘유아교사의 자질에 대한 부모의 인식 척도’와 ‘유아교육공동체 인식 척도’를 사용하였다. 자료 분석은 상관분석과 중다회귀분석을 실시하였으며, 매개효과분석을 위해 Sobel test를 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 기초자료로서 어머니의 교사자질 인식의 기대 및 실제, 그리고 유아교육공동체 인식은 보통이상의 수준이며, 어머니의 교사자질 인식의 기대수준이 실제수준보다 유의미한 차이로 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 어머니의 교사자질 인식의 기대수준과 실제수준, 유아교육공동체 인식의 관계는 정적 상관관계가 있었다. 셋째, 어머니의 유아교육공동체 인식은 어머니의 교사자질 인식의 기대와 실제 간 관계에서 부분 매개효과가 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 유아교육공동체의 중요한 주체인 어머니의 교사자질과 유아교육공동체 인식 간의 관련성에 대한 기초 자료를 제공하고, 교사자질 증진을 위한 교사교육에 대한 시사점을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study is to examine whether the recognition of early childhood education community plays any mediating role within relations of bewteen mothers’ expected and recognized teacher’s qualities. For this, I have chosen this study includes 194 mothers with kids aged 3, 4, and 5 years old, who are attending an early childhood education institute in P city and utilized the ‘scale of parents’ recognition of the quality of early childhood teachers’ and the ‘scale of recognition of early childhood education community.’ Correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze data and the Sobel test was used to analyze the mediating effect. The study findings are as following. First, as the basic data, the levels of both mothers’ expected and recognized early childhood teachers’ quality have been on or above the average, and the level of early childhood teachers’ quality expected by mothers has turned out to be significantly higher than that of quality currently recognized by mothers. Second, there has been a positive correlation between the levels of mothers’ expected and recognized early childhood teachers’ quality and the recognition of early childhood education community. Third, the recognition of early childhood education community among mothers has turned out to have a partial mediation effect on the level of early childhood teachers’ quality expected and recognized by mothers. This study provides basic data related to maternal perception of teacher qualifications and educational community, and discusses implications for parent and teacher education for improving teacher qualifications in terms of the establishment of the early childhood education community.
