본 연구는 영화 <파묘>에 등장하는 한국의 풍수사와 일본 음양사의 역사를 통한 한국과 일본의 풍수 문화의 차이와 그에 따른 역할 분화 현상을 고찰하여 그 문화적 상징성이 영화에 활용된 양상을 분석하였다. 한국과 일본의 풍수 문화는 중국의 음양오행론과 풍수지리학을 기반으로 발전했지만, 역사적으로 양국의 문화적, 종교적, 사회적 변화에 따라 한국의 풍수사와 일본의 음양사의 역할은 뚜렷한 차이를 보인다. 한국의 풍수사는 국가 차원에서 관리되어 궁터와 길지를 찾는 공간 전문가로서의 조선말 순종실록에 이르기까지 그 전문적 역할이 유지된 것으로 나타나지만, 일본의 음양사의 역할은 한국의 풍수사 역할과는 다르게 분화된 것으로 보인다. 초기에는 국가 차원에서 관리되어 의례에 제한된 전문적인 역할을 수행하였으나 양택 위주의 생활방식과 양묘제의 매장문화 방식의 차이에 따른 특성으로 육신과 분리된 귀신과 악령의 영향을 다루는데 더 많은 역할을 하도록 분화되는 현상으로 나타난다. 풍수사 상덕이 땅과 자연의 이치를 담고 있는 음양오행론의 상생상극 관계를 활용하여 오니를 퇴치하는 종말은 이 땅에 대자연의 대원칙이 구현되고 있음을 상징한다고 할 수 있다. 한일각국의 전통 문화콘텐츠인 풍수 문화를 도구로 일본의 극우적 제국주의의 망상을 처단한다는 스토리텔링은 밀도있는 긴장감과 완성도 있는 이야기의 구성을 제공한다. 또한 이러한 흥미가 불러일으킨 민족 고유의 전통 문화자산에 주목된 호기심은 디지털 환경 속 K컬쳐의 문화적 확장에 있어 하나의 중요한 한국 문화코드로 작용하여 강력한 확산 현상의 동력으로 작용한다.

This researcher analyzed the differences in Korean and Japanese feng shui culture and the resulting role differentiation through the history of Korean Feng shui master and Japanese Onmyoji that appear in the movie < Pamyo >, and analyzed how the cultural symbolism was applied in the movie. Korean and Japanese feng shui cultures developed based on the Chinese theory of yin and yang and the geomancy of feng shui, but Korean Feng shui master and Japanese Onmyoji show distinct differences due to cultural, religious, and social changes in the two countries. It can be seen that Korean Feng shui master was managed at the national level and maintained its professional role as a spatial expert in finding palace sites and auspicious sites up until the Annals of King Sunjong in Joseon. However, Japanese Onmyoji experienced a change in its role. At first, it was managed at the national level and performed a limited professional role in national rites, but due to the differences in the lifestyle centered on Yangtaek and the burial culture of Yangmyoje, it became a phenomenon in which it played a greater role in dealing with the influence of ghosts and evil spirits that were separated from the physical body.
