본 연구는 청소년들의 인권의식이 자아존중감에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위해, 한국청소년정책연구원이 조사한 2022년 한국 아동·청소년 인권실태조사 자료를 바탕으로 5,860명의 청소년을 대상으로 분석을 진행하였다. 연구 방법은 SPSS 29 프로그램을 사용하여 상관관계 분석, 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 청소년들의 인권의식이 높을수록 자아존중감도 높아지는 경향을 보였다. 둘째, 경제적 수준이 높고, 부모의 교육 수준이 높은 청소년들이 인권의식과 자아존중감이 더 높게 나타났으며, 이는 사회적, 문화적 배경이 청소년들의 인권의식과 자아존중감에 미치는 영향을 시사한다. 셋째, 회귀분석 결과, 인권의식은 자아존중감을 설명하는 중요한 예측 변수로 확인되었으며, 인권에 대한 긍정적인 태도와 가치관을 가진 청소년들이 자아존중감이 더 높은 경향을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 인권의식이 청소년기의 자아존중감 형성에 중요한 영향을 미친다는 것을 시사하며, 인권교육이 자아존중감을 증진시키는 데 중요한 역할을 할 수 있음을 보여준다. 본 연구의 의의는 청소년기의 자아존중감 형성에 있어 인권의식의 중요성을 강조한 데 있다. 인권의식이 높은 청소년들은 자신과 타인을 존중하는 태도를 가짐으로써 자아를 긍정적으로 평가할 가능성이 크며, 이는 자아존중감의 향상에 기여한다. 따라서, 청소년들의 자아존중감을 증진시키기 위한 교육적 접근은 인권교육을 강화하는 방향으로 나아가야 한다는 정책적 함의를 가진다.
In order to investigate the effect of adolescents' human rights awareness on self-esteem, this study analyzed 5,860 adolescents based on data from the 2022 Korean Children and Youth Human Rights Survey surveyed by the Korea Youth Policy Institute. For the research method, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA analysis, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted using the SPSS 29 program. As a result of the study, first, the higher the adolescents' human rights awareness, the higher their self-esteem. Second, adolescents with a high economic level and a high level of education from their parents showed higher human rights awareness and self-esteem, suggesting the effect of social and cultural backgrounds on adolescents' human rights awareness and self-esteem. Third, as a result of regression analysis, human rights awareness was identified as an important predictor of self-esteem, and adolescents with positive attitudes and values toward human rights tended to have higher self-esteem. These results suggest that human rights awareness has an important influence on the formation of self-esteem in adolescence, and show that human rights education can play an important role in promoting self-esteem. The significance of this study is to emphasize the importance of human rights awareness in forming self-esteem in adolescence. Adolescents with high human rights awareness are more likely to positively evaluate themselves by having an attitude of respect for themselves and others, which contributes to the improvement of self-esteem. Therefore, the educational approach to promoting youth's self-esteem has a policy implication that it should move toward strengthening human rights education.
