The main purpose of this study is to develop teaching materials and plans for the instruction of Earth Science concept-learning by using the history of science which is based on the constructivism. For this purpose, middle and high school textbooks were analyzed in each domain and curriculum according to five historical material types which were classified by the researcher and in the survey data, the degree of interest in the history of science was analyzed with 439 high school students throughout the country. As a result of textbook analysis, there was no differences in each curriculum. Among material types, Eij type was the most dominant and the domain of astronomy was numerically superior to the other domains of material. But the percentage of Korean history of science in textbooks was extremely small. As a whole, textbook analysis showed lack of recognition on the history of science and effort to introduce the history of science. And survey data analysis showed the degree of interest below average in subject and motive. On the basis of these basic studies, we found historical materials which could be used in Earth Science concept-learning and developed teaching materials(air & atmospheric pressure, geo-magnetism, one’s outlook on the universe, cyclone, gravity, continental drift theory and Korean history of science) according to five material types classified by us. And we invented five teaching plans (lecture I, lecture II, advance-organizer, modified learning-cycle, role-play module) by using these materials.
