이 논문은 의미 운율에 관한 새로운 연구방법론을 제시하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 지금까지 의미 운율에 관한 연구는 대상어의 의미 운율을 긍정, 부정, 중립과 같은 범주로서 분석하였다. 이러한 범주 분석은 서로 다른 의미 운율 범주를 지닌 대상어들을 분석하는 데는 효과적이지만, 대상어들이 동일 의미 운율 범주를 지녔을 때는 비교가 어렵다는 점에서 한계가 있다. 따라서 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해 평가적 의미의 정도를 새로운 매개변수로 도입하여 의미 운율의 분석 수준을 확장하고자 한다. 그리고 의미 운율의 범주와 정도 차이로만 유의 관계에 있는 대상어를 비교하는 것이 아니라, 개별 대상어의 의미 운율을 형성하는 공기어를 비교 분석하여 유의어의 사용 양상 차이를 명확히 식별하고자 한다. 유의어인 ‘매우, 몹시, 무척’을 바탕으로 확장된 의미 운율 분석 방법을 살펴본다.

The purpose of this paper is to present a new research methodology for semantic prosody. So far, studies on semantic prosody have analyzed semantic prosody of target words as categories such as positive, negative, and neutral. Although this categorical analysis can distinguish the differences between target words with different semantic prosody categories, there is a limitation in that comparison is difficult when they have the same semantic prosody categories. Therefore, the analysis of semantic prosody is expanded in order to overcome this limitation by introducing the degree of evaluative meaning as a new parameter. And, rather than comparing the usage patterns of target words in a synonymous relation only with differences in the category and degree of semantic prosody, the differences in the usage patterns of synonyms is identified based on the co-occurring words that form the semantic prosody of individual target words. The specific analysis method is demonstrated by analyzing ‘매우, 몹시, 무척'.
