연구 목적: 본 연구의 목적은 한국의 대학에 재학 중인 외국인 유학생 설문을 바탕으로 EFL 환경인 한국에서 효율적인 영어 수업을 위해 어떠한 외국어 교육 정책이 필요한지를 분석하는 것이다. 연구 방법: 본 연구를 위한 방법으로 경상북도 경산에 소재한 D대학을 중심으로 94명의 설문자를 대상으로 연구하였다. 연구 내용: 총 9개의 설문을 하였는데 그 결과를 살펴보면, 25개월 이상의 외국인 유학생인 한국 체류가 가장 많았으며, 이들의 주요 목적은 학업을 위해서였다. 또한, 실용영어를 배울 필요성에 대해 필요성이 매우 많다고 느끼고 있으며, 다양한 이유 중 ‘글로벌 시대에 일원이 되기 위해서’라는 응답이 가장 높았다. 한편, 이들은 한국인 교수자를 영어권 원어민보다 선호를 하였는데, 그러한 이유 중 가장 많은 응답으로 한국인 교수자로부터 ’한국 문화‘도 배우기를 원하기 때문인 것으로 나타났고, 한국인 교수자들에게 아쉬운 점은 ‘영어권 문화’로 응답했다. 마지막으로 외국인 유학생은 ‘한국인 교수자들로부터 한국 생활의 안착을 위한 안정감’을 배우고 싶어하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 및 제언: 한국의 교수자들에게 국내 대학생들은 ‘영어 지식’이 우선적으로 원하는 반면에, 외국인 유학생들은 한국 생활의 안착을 위한 안정감을 부가적으로 원했다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the foreign language education policies necessary for effective English instruction in an EFL environment like Korea, based on a survey of international students enrolled in Korean universities. This study was conducted with a survey of 94 participants, focusing on D university located in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk. A total of nine survey questions were asked, and the results show that the majority of international students had stayed in Korea for more than 25 months, primarily for studying. They strongly felt the need to learn practical English, with their main goal being to become members of the global community. Additionally, they preferred Korean instructors over native English-speaking instructors. From Korean instructors, they most wanted to learn about Korean culture, whereas they felt that a drawback of Korean instructors was the lack of exposure to English-speaking cultures. Lastly, international students indicated that they felt a sense of stability from Korean instructors in terms of adapting to life in Korea. While domestic university students in Korea primarily seek "English knowledge" from their instructors, international students also desire a sense of stability to help them adjust to life in Korea
