연구 목적: 내현적 자기애가 대인관계유능성에 미치는 효과는 잘 알려졌지만 어떠한 심리적 과정을 거치는지에 대해서는 알려지지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 내현적 자기애와 대인관계유능성의 관계를 내면화된 수치심이 매개하는지 살펴보고, 정서적고통감내력이 이러한 매개효과를 조절하는지를 검증하고자 하였다. 연구 방법: 전국에 거주하는 일반 성인 222명을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하여 조절된 매개효과에 대한 검증을 실시하였다. 연구 내용: 첫째, 내현적 자기애와 대인관계유능성의 관계에서 내면화된 수치심의 매개효과가 유의하였다. 둘째, 내면화된 수치심과 대인관계유능성의 관계를 정서적고통감내력이 조절하였다. 셋째, 내현적 자기애와 대인관계유능성의 관계에 대한 내면화된 수치심의 매개효과가 정서적고통감내력에 의해 조절되는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 및 제언: 이러한 결과는 상담 현장에서 내현적 자기애로 인해 대인관계유능성을 경험하는 내담자에게 내면화된 수치심 혹은 정서적고통감내력을 포함한 심리적 개입을 실시할 필요성을 시사한다.

The effect of covert narcissism on interpersonal competence is well known, but it is not known what psychological process it goes through. Therefore, this study aimed to examine whether internalized shame mediates the relationship between covert narcissism and interpersonal competence, and whether emotional distress tolerance moderates this mediating effect. An online survey was conducted with 222 adults living nationwide to verify the moderated mediating effect. First, the mediating effect of internalized shame on the relationship between covert narcissism and interpersonal competence was significant. Second, emotional distress tolerance moderated the relationship between internalized shame and interpersonal competence. Third, the mediating effect of internalized shame on the relationship between covert narcissism and interpersonal competence was moderated by emotional distress tolerance. These results suggest the need to implement psychological interventions including internalized shame or emotional distress tolerance for clients who experience interpersonal competence due to covert narcissism in counseling settings.
