The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences and perceptions of behavior intervention consulting practitioners and to suggest future directions for behavior support consulting. The research method involved conducting focus group interviews with 10 practitioners who performed behavior intervention consulting based on Positive Behavior Support (PBS). The results were summarized into four major categories ―'challenges,' 'key factors for successful intervention,' 'roles of practitioners,' and 'qualifications and qualities of practitioners'―which were further divided into 12 subcategories and 25 detailed concepts. First, behavior intervention consulting practitioners experienced challenges stemming from external factors, such as the intervention site's environment and individuals surrounding the subject, as well as internal factors, such as the burden of intervention planning. Second, for successful intervention, practitioners recognized the importance of success experiences, strategic approaches, and cooperation from the individuals surrounding the subject. Third, practitioners acknowledged the need to fulfill roles in program development, applicant education, and functional intervention operation. Lastly, to work effectively as a practitioner, professionalism, equanimity, a positive attitude, and flexibility were identified as essential qualities. Based on these results, the study discusses aspects that need to be addressed for a successful behavior intervention were discussed.
