Caja de fractales(2017) is a dystopian novel that explores the structures of capitalism and its possible alternatives through the concept of the fractal. It consists of six chapters, each titled with a year, which break epistemological boundaries through non-linear and discontinuous transitions in space-time. This structure makes it difficult to find a unified order of the world, but the concept of the fractal allows for new interpretations. The fractal is presented as a key to understanding the reproduction of global capitalism and its narratives of resistance. The central question of the novel is whether it is possible to imagine a world outside of capitalism. This study raises two key questions: the meaning and effect of the novel's non-linear and discontinuous temporal structure, and whether, through its main and resistance narratives, Caja de fractales has a utopian impulse or not. The analysis is primarily based on the philosophical reflections of Gilles Deleuze and Édouard Glissant.
