본고는 김중혁의 단편집 『1F/B1』에 수록된 소설들을 행위자네트워크 이론을 통해 분석하고, 사물과 인간의 다양한 얽힘과 공존의 모색이라는 측면에서 의미매김하고자 한다. 행위자네트워크 이론을 포함한 사물지향이론에서는 사물도 인간의 행동과 현실을 바꿀 수 있다는 점에서 행위성을 가지고 있으며, 한 인간의 행위능력이란 그와 연결되어 있는 이종적 행위자들의 상호작용에서 비롯된 관계적 효과라고 본다. <회색괴물>과 <무용지물박물관> 등 김중혁의 소설은 단순한 도구가 아니라 인간과 연결된 행위자로서 사물의 존재를 부각하고 있다. <매뉴얼제너레이션>과 <크라샤> 등에서는 인간의 효용성에서 벗어난 사물들이 그 속에 축적된 시간과 사용자의 기억을 매개하며, 사물을 통해 부재하는 존재를 되살릴 수 있음을 이야기한다. 사물과 인간의 조화로운 관계맺음이 사라진 도시, 비인간과 인간의 공존이 불가능해진 현실은 <바질>, <유리의 도시> 등에서 대도시 속 인간과 비인간의 적대적 배치의 서사로 나타난다. 현대 도시의 인간중심 시스템에 방치되거나 불화하는 비인간 행위자들은 재해를 통해 강렬한 존재감을 나타낸다. <크라샤>, < 1F/B1 >, < C1+y=: 〔8〕: > 등 재개발, 재건축 문제를 다루는 김중혁의 도시 서사는 인간과 비인간 사이의 적대와 불화가 가져오는 불안과 공포에 머무르지 않고, 인간-비인간 행위자의 대안적 관계성과 소통 가능성을 제시한다. 다양한 사물 행위자와의 새로운 관계맺음을 통해 김중혁은 사물의 자리를 점령하는 것이 아니라 인간중심 시스템에 포획되지 않는 공간에서 사물과 함께 하는, 사물 정치의 기획을 보여준다고 하겠다.
This paper analyzes Kim Jung-hyeok’s short story collection, 『1F/B1』, through actor network theory and seeks to meaning in terms of the search for diverse entanglements and coexistence between objects and humans. Thing-oriented theory, including actor-network theory, holds that things also have agency in that they can change human behavior and reality, and that a person’s ability to act is a relational effect resulting from the interaction of heterogeneous actors connected to him. Kim Jung-hyeok’s novels, such as < The Gray Monster > and < The Museum of Useless Objects >, highlight the existence of objects not as mere tools but as agents connected to humans. In works such as < Manual Generation > and < Crasha >, objects that have escaped human utility mediate the time accumulated within them and the user’s memories, and absent existence can be revived through object s. The reality of a city where the harmonious relationship between objects and humans has disappeared and where coexistence between humans and non-humans has become impossible is expressed in the narrative of the hostile arrangement of humans and non-humans in a large city in works such as < Basil > and < City of Glass >. Nonhuman actors who are neglected or at odds with the human-centered systems of modern cities make their presence felt through disasters. Kim Jung-hyeok’s urban narratives, which deal with issues of redevelopment and reconstruction such as < Crasha >, < 1F/B1 > and < C1+y=: 〔8〕: >, do not stop at the anxiety and fear brought about by the hostility and discord between humans and non-humans, but suggest alternative relationships and possibilities for communication between human and non-human actors. Through new relationships with various object actors, Kim Jung-hyeok shows a plan for thing politics that does not occupy the place of objects, but rather works with objects in a space that is not captured by the human-centered system.
