Carbon-supported single-atom catalysts (SACs) are widely used in heterogeneous catalysis owing to their high activity and selectivity. This study reviews various carbon materials including carbon black, mesoporous carbon, and carbon nanotubes as supports for SACs, highlighting their characteristics and associated research studies. The SACs are synthesized using methods such as pyrolysis, wet chemistry, and chemical vapor deposition, which allow for precise control over the atomic distribution of catalytic active sites. Carbon-supported SACs have demonstrated excellent performances in various applications, including photocatalysis and electrocatalysis. This paper details the synthesis methods and potential applications of carbon- supported SACs, providing insights into their future development and contributions to the advancement of next-generation catalytic technologies.
