연구 목적: 본 연구는 AI 기반 OPIc(Oral Proficiency Interview - computer) 수업모형을 개발하여 영어 말하기 교육에의 활용 가능성을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 방법: 연구에서는 ChatGPT와 같은 AI 도구를 활용하여 학습자들이 이야기 구성 요소(주제, 이유, 배경, 시작 및 끝맺음 문구 등)를 반영한 답변을 체계적으로 구성하고, 어휘와 문법의 정확성을 높이며 발음 교정을 받을 수 있도록 했다. 연구 내용: 수업 모형은 준비, 제시, 연습, 활용, 확인의 다섯 단계로 구성되었으며, 각 단계에서 AI가 학생의 스크립트를 점검하고 피드백을 제공하도록 설계되었다. AI 기반 수업 모형은 기존 수업의 물리적, 인적환경의 제한점을 극복하여 학습들에게 개별화된 피드백 및 풍부한 연습을 제공하는 이점으로 학습자들의 구술 능력 향상에 유의미한 도움을 주었음을 확인하였다. 결론 및 제언: 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 실제 영어 말하기 수업에 AI 도구를 적극적으로 도입하고, 후속으로 인공지능 기반 영어 말하기 교수법의 효과 관련 연구를 제언한다.

This study aims to develop an AI-based OPIc (Oral Proficiency Interview computer) teaching model to explore its potential in English speaking education. Utilizing AI tools such as ChatGPT, the study supports learners in systematically structuring responses based on narrative elements (topic, reason, background, opening, and closing remarks), improving vocabulary and grammar accuracy, and receiving pronunciation feedback. The teaching model consists of five stages: Warm-up, Presentation, Practice, Use, and Follow-up, with AI designed to review learners’ scripts and provide feedback at each stage. The AI-based model effectively addresses the limitations of traditional class environments by offering individualized feedback and ample practice opportunities, significantly enhancing learners’ speaking abilities. Based on these findings, the study recommends the active integration of AI tools into English speaking education and suggests a follow-up study on the effectiveness of AI-based English speaking teaching methods.
