Developing a prosperous rural culture is an essential task in China's rural construction. Utilizing cultural governance to achieve the recovery and development of rural communities has become a crucial component of China's rural governance system. Therefore, how to conduct rural cultural governance has become a topic of considerable interest. This study conducts a field investigation of three villagers under the jurisdiction of Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, China, to research the specific pathways of cultural governance in these villagers. Drawing from the perspective of lifeworld theory, this study focuses on examining the roles of villagers and how cultural governance influences the formation of villagers' shared background knowledge during the process of cultural governance. The research reveals that there are differences in the roles played by villagers and the formation of shared background knowledge across different cultural governance pathways. Furthermore, the pathways of cultural governance in the three villagers share similarities. Firstly, regarding the role positioning of villagers as governance subjects, villagers primarily participate in the specific cultural governance process and act as voters in the micro-level institutional setting process. Secondly, the pathways of cultural governance in the three villages exhibit similar practical logics. Specifically, during the governance process, cultural symbols and patterns are selected through linkage with policy texts, forming a new cultural system and promoting the formation of background knowledge adapted to the villagers' lifeworlds.
