이야기를 구상하고, 또 널리 알리고 싶어 하는 호모 나란스 Homo narrans에게는 자신을 둘러싼 세계에서 펼쳐지는 다양한 삶이 이야깃거리가 된다. 그런 이야기들은 각 시대적·문화적 배경에서 다채로운 주제와 서술 형식을 취한다. 본 연구는 ‘독일어권에서 높이 평가되는 이야기와 주제는 무엇이며, 어떤 방식으로 (재)생산되는가’, 라는 물음에서 출발한다. 18~19세기 이래로 오랫동안 독일적인 색채가 강하게 가미되었다고 인정받는 근·현대 교양소설의 특징적인 성장 서사, 즉 시민적인 문제성이나 문제의식을 지닌 한 인간이 자아를 인식하는 것에서 시작하여 세계와 새로운 관계를 형성하기까지의 인생 여정이, 오늘날 주도적인 서사 매체로 자리매김한 영화 속에서 어떻게 유희적으로 변환되어 이야기되는지를 조명한다. 이에 평범한 시민들의 성장을 이야기하는 랄프 후에트너 감독의 영화 <빈센트 - 바다, 혹은 더 많은 것을 찾아서>에서 전통적인 교양소설의 성장 서사가 주제, 소재, 인물 구성 및 주요 모티프 등 다양한 비틀기를 통해 해체되고 있음을 논의한다.

For Homo Narrans, who conceives a story and wants to spread it, the world around him and the various lives that unfold there become materials for stories. Such stories take on various themes and narrative forms depending on each historical and cultural background. This study begins with the question, 'What stories and themes are highly regarded in the German-speaking world, and how are they (re)produced?' From there, it explores how the characteristic growth narrative of the Bildungsroman, acknowledged for its distinctively German qualities since the 18th and 19th centuries, is playfully transformed within film. This narrative medium, which has become the leading form of storytelling today, captures the life journey from self-awareness to the formation of new relationships with the world, often through a person grappling with civic issues or critical consciousness. This study addresses how the film < Vincent Wants to Sea > by director Ralf Huettner, which tells the story of the growth of ordinary citizens, deconstructs the traditional Bildungsroman-style growth narrative through various twists in theme, subject matter, character composition, and key motifs.
