『조선음악서』 무편 (舞篇)은 이왕직아악부가 전승한 궁중악무 중 춤에 대한 내용을 기록한 책이다. 무편의 제1 총론에는 일무의 전승 배경, 제2 일무는 종묘육일무와 문묘팔일무, 제3 정재에는 51종의 정재종목을 춤명, 창작시기 및 창작자, 무원, 악곡의 항목으로 나누어 표로 정리하였다. 그리고 <처용무>, <춘앵전>, <무고>, <가인전목단>, <향령무>, <봉래의>, <보상무>, <장생보연지무>, <수연장>, <만수무>의 10종 정재를 간단한 설명과 동작절차를 제시하였다. 정재 종목과 서술방식을 검토한 결과, 무편에 수록된 정재 10종은 1920-30년대에 거행된 공연에서 선보인 종목이었으며 특히 영친왕 환국 만찬연을 준비하며 정리한 인쇄본 『무의』(1929년), 이병성·성경린 노트(1931년)의 수록 내용을 바탕으로 정리되었음을 확인하였다. 『조선음악서』 무편은 이왕직아악부에서 재현한 당대의 정재를 무보로 기록화하고, 일관된 체계를 갖추면서 도판이나 사진 자료를 넣어 정리하려 했다는 점에서 『악학궤범』의 악서 편찬 방식을 따르려 했다는 역사적 의미를 찾을 수 있었다.

The “Mup'yŏn” (舞篇) volume of the “Chosŏn Music Book”(“Chosŏnŭmaksŏ”, 朝鮮音樂書) is a book that records the dance-related content among the court dances transferred by the Yiwangjik Aakpu (李王職雅樂部). The first section provides a general overview of the “Mup'yŏn” (舞篇), which outlines the background of the transfer of Ilmu (佾舞). The second section on Ilmu details the Chongmyo Yugilmu (宗廟六佾舞) and Munmyo P'arilmu (文廟八佾舞). The third section on Chŏngjae (呈才) summarizes 51 types of Chŏngjae into a table, categorizing them by dance name, creation period, creator, performers, and musical compositions. Additionally, it provides brief descriptions and movement procedures for ten types of Chŏngjae: “Ch'ŏyongmu (處容舞),” “Ch'unaengjŏn (春鶯囀),” “Mugo (舞鼓),” “Kainjŏnmoktan (佳人剪牧丹),” “Hyangnyŏngmu (響鈴舞),” “Pongnaeŭi (鳳來儀),” “Posangmu (寶相舞),” “Changsaeng boyŏn jimu (長生寶宴之舞),” “Suyŏnjang (壽延長),” and “Mansu-mu (萬壽舞).” Upon reviewing the list of Chŏngjaes and their descriptions, it was confirmed that the ten types of Chŏngjae included in “Mup'yŏn” were performances featured during the 1920s and 1930s, particularly based on the content recorded in the printed edition of “Muŭi” (舞儀, 1929) prepared for Prince Yeongchin's return banquet and the notes of Yi Pyŏng-sŏng (李炳星) and Sŏng Gyŏng-nin (成慶麟, 1931). The “Mup'yŏn” volume of the “Chosŏn Music Book” holds historical significance as it attempted to document the court dances recreated by the Yiwangjik Aakpu in dance scores and systematically organized them with illustrations and photographs, following the compilation method of “Ak'ak kwebŏm (樂學軌範).”
