The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between psychological contract violation, organizational cynicism and extra-role beahavior among local public officials in Korea. The data were obtained by questionnaire from a sample of 366 members. The results of the study were as followed: First, psychological contract violation is positively related to organizational cynicism and counter productive work behavior(CWB) and is negatively related to organizational citizenship behavior(OCB). Second, organizational cynicism was not related to extra-role behaviors(i.e. organizational citizenship behavior, counter productive work behavior). The findings were suggested in practical implications for researchers and practitioners. The limits of this study and the recommendation of future studies were discussed.
