이 글에서는 「한국지방자치학회보」 게재논문(1989~2017년) 중에서 지방거버넌스 및 갈등관리(정부 간 관계 제외)를 주제로 한 연구의 경향을 분석하였다. 분석기준은 연구의 투입, 전개, 산출 측면으로 구분해서 각각의 특징을 기술하였다. 주요한 분석결과를 보면, 다수의 논문들이 실제적이거나 문제해결지향적 연구에 초점을 두고 있었던 반면, 이론적 및 이론형성 논문은 상대적으로 적었다. 연구방법의 경우 질적 연구가 많았고, 그 중에서도 사례연구방법에 치중되어 있었다. 마지막으로 정책대안을 제시한 연구를 중심으로 성공적인 거버넌스 형성의 요건과 갈등해결의 방안을 정리하였다. 향후 지역성장을 도모하기 위해서는 갈등을 넘어 협력으로 가기 위한 다양한 조건을 식별하고, 이에 대한 실증적인 검증을 통해 성공적 모델을 제시하는 연구가 필요할 것으로 보인다.

This paper intends to analyze the research trends in local governance and conflict management excluding inter-governmental conflicts among the articles published in the Journal of Local Government Studies in the period between 1989 and 2017. The articles were classified by the criteria of input, progress, and output and their characteristics were described as such. The results showed that a majority of articles focused on practical or problem-solving oriented researches while there were few articles in theoretical or theory building researches. More articles utilized qualitative research methodologies and more articles among them used a case study mothed. Finally the paper summarized the elements of successful governance building and the ideas of conflicts resolution by sorting out alternative policies suggested in the articles. Future researches need to identify various prerequisites to go forward to collaboration from conflicts and achieve regional growth. Also they need to produce a successful model through a practical verification process.
