『複合汚染』は、1974年10月14日から1975年6月30日までの8ヶ月半にわたって『朝日新聞』朝刊に連載された有吉佐和子の長編小説である。発表当時はセンセーショナルな話題を巻き起こし、現在に至るまでベストセラーとしての影響力を持つ有吉の代表作である。本研究では、新聞連載小説という手法に着目し、有吉が本作品を通じて成し遂げようとした意図を把握し、作品で取り上げられている内容を具体的に検討することで、『複合汚染』が日本社会の問題をどのような形で伝えているのかを考察し、作品を再評価した。

The Complex Contamination is a novel by Ariyoshi Sawako, which was serialized in the Asahi Shimbun from October 14, 1974 to June 30, 1975. At the time of the announcement, it became a sensational topic and is the representative work of Ariyoshi, who is influential as a steady seller to this day. In this study, I reevaluated the work by focusing on the method of serialized newspaper fiction, understanding the intent that Ariyoshi tried to achieve through this work, and examining the specific content dealt with in the work to see how The Complex Contamination conveys the problems of Japanese society.
